When I put my tent up over a month ago, discovered that the 1/8 ratchets would not clip onto the ceiling poles as the poles were too thick. Today I finally get the 1/4 inch and have same issue. Mostly because the clips won't open enough to get around the pole which is a 1/4 inch pole. If I slide them down the pole they fit fine but I cant do this with every pole because there are heavy things on it already. Is there some kind of larger clip or ring or another item that clips on easy enough that I can put on the rails and then just clip on the ratchets?
 
I used extra duty zip ties they hold more then enough and make your problem go away. I got the really big ones used for ductwork. I got them cheep at Home Depot

OMG, Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually have a bunch of them in my toolbox and don't even know why I never thought of using those. I was actually looking for rings or larger hooks to put in between, but zip ties, for now I'll use them. Thanks again!
 
I used two ties per hook one I left loose a over sized loop, so if the primary tie fails for some reason which is UNLIKELY the second would safely catch before damage to plants. I assume you are using a cooled hood in your tent.as the zip ties wont weaken due to heat issues cooling and heating cycles so to speak.
 
Zip ties, duct tape, wonderful stuff. Hell back in the day we used this thing we called baling wire. That was pretty good stuff too, and we carried our pliers in a quick draw holster.
 
I was talking with Amazon over this issue because this was actually my third order for ratchet sets they recommended through the original purchase and every time I got them, they were too small, and the most recent order they were the right size except they made a design change to the latch which only opens about 12mm making it impossible to use. It was then I noticed another item that actually for me would work better than zip ties as I can add and remove as many as needed and Amazon is shipping me 36 of them for free for all the trouble they caused with my other orders this past month. For example, those 1 gallon pots that took 3 weeks to get finally, the first sets they shipped were all broken, and not from shipping either, they were actually marked with tags (damaged) yet they shipped them, and then the two airbrush systems they shipped me, one was DOA which again had a defective tag on it too, and last was the funniest of all their mistakes. Instead of shipping me surge protectors and heating mats, they sent me two baby strollers, which my nosy neighbor saw and next day I started getting calls from people I haven't even talked to in 2 years congratulating and asking me when the TWINS were due. I already have two children, and they are my last lol. Due to shipping cost (not the children) Amazon told me to keep them. Ended up donating them after finding out no one sells them. There was a lot more they had done, but for now, instead of shipping back 16 ratchets, when I went to place the order for these steel lockable rings which are 4" long, I had to request chat to have them expedite the order as promised, which was when they told me if this is going to fix all the issues where they don't have to take them back, they'll give them to me at no cost. Here is a link to the steel lockable rings. They can hold up to 50lbs, so using 2 for each ratchet is simple enough. The most heavy item in my tent is the charcoal fan filter combo. I'll also now be able to adjust the LED light panels without having to tie and untie the ropes. These steel key rings are 2mm thick and can easily be tightened over the metal beams and then I just add the ratchets to them the way they are supposed to be used.

dude, that stroller/nosy neighbor story is freaking HILARIOUS!!! for real i laughed out loud... i personally don't believe in hell but if i did i would think there would be a special place there for nosy neighbors. thanks, i needed a good laugh....:)

I fixed this issue using steel keyrings. They wrap around the beams then get locked together into a ring which helped immensely because I have had to raise the lights higher to prevent some of my plants from getting burned and today it looks like I will have to raise them again as a lot of plants are suddenly growing at a exponential rate and no room to train them and worse I just found out my shed is delayed till end of February so now need to figure out what to do with the overcrowding. Im stuck with a 2x4 tent with 25 plants, 1/4 of them autos. Looking to see if something exits like an expandable tent so I can just add sections to it once I get my shed. Dont want to waste money on another 2x4 that Im most likely only going to use for 30 days or less.
