Qwerty's first grow.

Another update.

I have 9-10 days left in veg before I do the switch.

I know not all believe in defoilating. But I decided to give all the smaller colas additional light. It took me probably about 3 hours to fo a light defoilation.(lollipopping will be done just before I switch over to remove bud sites that will not produce as much)

The new picture has A LOT less leaves than the last pic of this am.... the plant CLOSEST to the camera is insane and took 1 hr alone to do. So leafy and SOO many bud sites! (Smaller, but soooo many!) I like to leave at least one leaf per cola.

So what you see is all colas. I do have a few that are dominant, i may supercrop them at the flip...

I cut off any bud sites that were clearly going to be popcorn buds (light starved)

Holy jebus, if all continues to go like it has been it will be a monster crop!

Have a blessed day!

Very true, I may need to thin them out. Espeically the biggest one...

I may use some copper wire (plastic coating) to create spacers so there is significant airflow with significant holes (bends) for the plant to still grow.

The smaller ones seem to be good. But I worry avout the other. Lots of smaller ones poking through, as is if I had lef it go as is, it would be just one massive bud (minus the hugh risk of mold etc)

After the defoil I just did, I will be cutting the ones that are too small!

Did you take your plants out of the tent to defoliate? Just I find doing anything like that easier at the kitchen sink.

I did take it out of the tent. No way I could be bent over for that long let alone 15min... I set it down in regular light on a chair walked around cutting a wack of leaves off then sat down to remove light starved growth:)

I cant really carry them. So I just lift them outside of the tent.

They're looking good my friend. However, you may want to just slightly cut down on the watering. I see lots of speed bumps on many of the leaves.

They look so awesome!! This is how I reasoned on my last grow and my limited space, and I'd be interested to hear others' takes on your situation:

Your space is entirely filled; I think the ones that are growing against the tent walls may have some trouble. You are probably going to have to do some stem trimming.

Just wait till the stretch rises like Godzilla from behind a skyscraper: you will be amazed. I hope you know that at the end of week 3 of flower is when you should do your last major defol and have your branch trimming finished: remember, you want to maximize the # of colas that can fill the grow space, and that will get super phat and dank with no freakin mold!!!

You want the maximum number of super-strong, thick colas rather than more that are more larfy.

You sure as hell don't want mold. And if leaves are sweating on each other and choking for more air circulation, that's a danger. You have to be able to get a good look all around the plant to make sure everything's good.

Nebula's rule is I think 2" air space around each cola--although I don't see that in many of the pics posted over there on GWE; it's an ideal, I think. The point being, that you can't have them squished against each other and get the strongest colas? But look at the pics on this page, and you'll see what i mean.

What do others have to say?

Sorry for that my friend lol. "Speed Bumps" is a term used when a plant is over-watered and the leaves start to get "swollen" or "puffy" with the excess water and the top of the leaves look like "speed bumps" lol.. Leaves are suppose to be somewhat flat, but if you look closely at some of your leaves, they tend to have that "puffy", "swollen", "speed bump" look to hem.

Ah ok! Thank you. Something I had forgot to do was put holes in the bucket :/ slowly adding a few... slow process.. but I dont want to hurt the roots either.. may help with drying the soil a little as well!

Yea you should try to make some holes if you can. You don't want any water just sitting there in the bottom of your pot drowning your roots.

Agreed. Water dosnt sit, but it is a very tall pot. So moisture can easily remain in the soil for a while!

Thank you for your eye! It will be rectified!

Its full with only a few touching the walls (mainly leaves) it is full but I could probably get slightly more in there.. but I dont want to rish mold! :)

The 2" seems like a good number to work with. I will see what I can do with that. The only plant seems it will be too hard to do it, so firstly I will try bending away , then worst case cut if absolutly needed.

Where I do plan on letting them go another 10 days or so (pending the looks of things). The flip will happen. I am excited to see the final stretch.

I thought final defoil was at switch! I seen nebula was saying the leaves act as armor. So I had wanted to use caution! :)

Ill have a read!:)

Do use caution!! I've had to read the defol stuff over and over to wrap my head around it... I'll have to back again on this grow.

I just can't wait to see!!!
