question about light cycle

I am into my third week of 12/12 and I would like to know if you can flip night and day without causing any problems. I have a problem with heat. But if you can flip, is there a certain procedure I will have to follow.

Your plants knows and is expecting lights on and lights off like clockwork.
is it a problem you can fix by add ventilation? would be my first suggestion.
if not and you have to I would let lights go off, then not let them come back on till the new time.

Nothing interrupts dark in nature but cloudy days prolong light.

I believe you can do an extended dark cycle with no problems, but others who know for sure will tag in with a definitive answer.

If it must be done, let the next 12 hour dark cycle complete... then adjust the timer to begin after another 12 hour dark cycle (to replace your current lights on time). A 24 hour dark period will not hurt anything. If given 24 hours of light, this could potentially mess up your flowers.
