Poor mans smart pot!

Burlap, can be made any size or shape add a wire frame to keep the shape you want can add handles when finished chuck it.

I've not tried burlap, but it won't keep the water in the way a smart pot does . That felt type material is great for holding in the moisture. If I was going to transplant a bigger plant say some bamboo in my yard I'd cover the roots with burlap to move it but not to grow it in.

I've seen some giants come out of burlap watered with a hose in back of church outside grow.
