Looking for a little knowledge. When the plant gets to big for the space it is in and it reaches right by the light what are some negative effects in the plant and does it mess up the flowering stage.

Yup, what Lucky said man. But if you are at the stage where it is already too tall - bend 'er over. Check out tutorials on how to soften up the main stem before bending. It's all there.
