Pistils-trichomes how do you decide when to harvest?

I know it's frequently written that when some percentage of trichomes are amber it is time to harvest. Also, when the pistils have curled up and are no longer reaching for pollen (I think). I understand that "riper" trichomes produce a more couch lock high and clear to cloudy a more energetic high. What do you do and do you base it on the strain you are growing? Sunday morning thoughts.......

Sunday Mornin…….I think Gwen Stefani sang that in a song anyhooo I judge harvest by using a loupe 60x mag. I try like heck to get several views off different colas and take those with amber trichs. I like relaxed my 1 cent

I don't like couchlock at all. So when I see all cloudy Trichomes with just a touch of amber, I harvest. The key here is that there has to be amber. But not too much.

I harvest at different stages (on different strains) so I can have morning time and good night time weed. I avoid clear as it gives bad affects,,, like paranoia,,,

At the first sign of amber trichomes- I begin to give just water as the peak THC has just happened.
Generally, I consider this the harvest window opening and in no rush as it lasts a couple of weeks- usually good growth, too.

I do base the harvest on the trichomes- very dependent on the strain.
It is this point where, you can balance out the sativa/indica if you prefer.

I tend to allow Sativa's to get more ambers to temper the energenic high.
Indica's are chopped sooner, as I don't like much couch lock effect.

I rarely let it get above 10% translucent amber on the buds surface- but will chop once I see dark/black ambers, as it indicates THC degradation.

I had to harvest a couple outdoor plants early do to weather flux they were cloudy/clear on one (critical kush) shameful to me. I guess it depends on phenos I can't give a true smoke report cause it is not fully cured but I did allow a few buds to air dry for a pipe smoke. Harsh as heck, nothin. It's gotta have amber trichs on it for sure at least 20-30% else it's racy especially with the sativa dominates at least for us it is, or it don't get you feeling calm/relaxed. My 1 cent.
