Pistils and unsure...

So I'm not sure if this is an auto or not. I'm assuming not because it's already about 3 months old and I figure it would have started sooner if it was. I'm still giving her 24 hours of light and was hoping to grow her bigger. She's stunted cause I topped early and a few other things. Anyway, here's some pictures maybe someone has some advice or input on this. I guess I'm wondering if I should roll with the light on or switch to 18/6 or 12/12. Thanks in advance.

I’ve have found, for me, veg lasts 6-8 weeks if I want big plants as the flowering stretch can double the height and it’s an unknown variable. I agree if these were auto ( with my limited auto experiences)they would have started to transition. I have read a few opinions on 24/0 light exposure and That sampling seems to indicate only 35% acceptance for that time frame with a majority claiming 18/6 being best. The 12/12 for autos seems to be a 70/30 split with most saying 18/6 will produce better yields.

i don’t know this for a fact but: can continuous exposure to light for 90 days create changes in the chemical balance of the plant so that it’s made itself difficult to transition to flower? I’m not sure and it’s just a thought.

i wouldn’t believe you’re at a loss to go to 18/6... the 6 hours of darkness may be just the stimulus they need to turn that corner. My 2 cents fwiw

Thanks I may just do the 18/6 and see where she goes from there. Still new to this and usually it's been about a week from switching to 12/12 where I see pistils. This time I have 2 that showed within 36 hours of switching and that little one which is still on 24 hours so I found it odd but exciting lol

Take this with a truckload of salt...

Way back in the day, in the late 60's, we were taught (and I know a lot of what was accepted as gospel then has been dismissed today) that plants produced "food" by day with sunlight and used that "food" at night to do the actual work of growing. I realize modern techniques, science and many more hours of light in tents, etc... have proven they do indeed grow in the light. (Think of those huge Alaskan pumpkins!) I'm wondering, though, if it doesn't actually make sense that a "rest period" even as short as four to six hours per 24 hr cycle is more than enough to stimulate growth and use up the days "food" as opposed to just storing it. I've seen studies that seem to at least suggest a rest period is as important to plants as it is to animals in many regards.

Like I said, grain of salt (albeit large) but it seems to be logical at least on its face value alone.

I've thought about that too and it seemed logical enough to me but I've had them on all the time for veg lately. I may try both when I split up my babies in about a month.

That is a heavily discussed topic on the rest period for plants and there are some decent thoughts that make too much sense
