Photo flipping

For my third Grow I’m leaving autos behind and trying photos for the first time. My question to all the experts here is, when do you like to flip and what is your yield average ? I know yields depends on many factors , lights etc but I’m curious. Also if i plant more than two in my 4x4 tent that is 6 feet tall, how do i keep them tall and not bushy? I don’t want to run out of space. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

General rule of thumb is flip when they half the height you want them to finish at, yield is near impossible to predict what someone else is going to get especially before you can start to see flowers and in person. From what I understand if you can get 1 pound from 1square metre of plant you are on the money.. read up on the strains you're interested in they should give you a description and guide to capable yield, if it indica or sativa leaning, the average expected height of the plant etc. in your tent to encourage tall plants environmentally you would have your light at max height and minimum ppfd the plant needs to grow, however this will greatly affect the end yield. Also if tall and lanky is in the genetics less air movement at seedling stage would result in taller lankier plants than seedlings that gets a constant breeze.. that's my opinion anyway, :wink:

Well AMP, if its your first go of photos, depending on the size of your pots or grow bags, i would start with two plants in 5 gal bags in a 4x4 tent. LST them and keep a nice flat canopy untill you fill out the 4x4 footprint. Then flip them and let them go. I grow in a 4x6 ft tent and usually do 3 plants, any more is too tight and way more work. i target 1 pound per harvest. In a tent a bushy plant is better than a tall plant.
