I grow in Coco and use this process for sprouts/seedlings. Drop seeds in shot glass of water for 24 hours or until s 1/4-1/2" tail shows, put in rapid rooter pods until leaves are grown out to the sides and roots come out the bottom, transplant to a bigger container until the roots come out the bottom, transplant to final home. I'm looking for a pot that I don't have to remove and will biodegrade without harming anything. I've tried the paper peat pots. I've tried the solo cups. They're workable but I want something easier. My thought is a paper pot that I can leave in place when I put my seedlings into their final home. I could skip a step and when the sprouts go into the rapid rooter pods they could also be put into their final home. That idea doesn't appeal because I like the plants to have some growth to them and some experience with the nutrient solution I'm feeding them before they go into their final home.
 
Yes i've seen these used by giant nurseries that grow in huge greenhouses that grow plants an trees. I don't like peat pots tried those also. I have not had issue just transplanting from solo or small 2x2 plastic into the final pot. I too like to see the roots when transplanted. If it ain't broke ?
 
Oh yes the newspaper mold for making pots, i'm not sure of the ink on the paper though? I'd use brown paper bags to make those pots.

Folks use newspaper in compost heaps and wormeries. Newspapers these days typically use a soybean based ink. Something nontoxic has to be used. Imagine how many people would die from newspaper ink poisoning with all that rubs off on your hands. Tennis balls are also nontoxic because of kids and dogs eating them.
Maybe don't use Chinese newspapers. Yeah. Not from there. Taiwan, sure. Taiwan's cool.​
 
Oh see i'm still in the 60's with knowing they now use soybean based that is great. Oh yes brown paper bags break down quickly. LOL I just read your last sentence LOL . Still don't let dabber eat an swallow those damn tennis balls you'll get a huge vet bill !!
 
Oh, she's cool. After a few weeks, she'll start tearing it to bits and spitting everything out.
The only things that don't come out well are my long hairs. Sometimes she won't be able to finish a drop because one end of a hair is dangling the poopie and the other is stuck in her butt. She gives me a sheepish look and I yank the hair out.
