Ok guys so my outdoor grow is gonna have to be in a swampy area this year.. more so then last.. I have to move them back farther in the swamp so my dick head brother doesn't rippem all out an steal my bud.. fuckin shame I gotta worry about my own brother.. but anyway I found some useful info on building swamp tubes.. basically a smart pot that is buried in the ground without a bottom.. now apparently swap water is highly acidic... So was told to add lime to my mixture... Not really sure of what mix I'm even going to use yet.. an ideas? The tubes are going to be roughly 2.5' -3' in diameter an about 2.5' foot tall. About 8-10" buried in the ground it's chicken wire lined with smart pot material with 4 stakes around it to hold it in place from tip overs.. any one have any experience with this? Should I use Coco? Or dirt? Mix the lime evenly thru or just on the bottom? Also heard of people filling the bottom with Coco an dirt an fert on top, this is the first time trying this so any information would be great, planting this weekend, the girls are already from 1-2 feet tall so they should be ok, even tho it's dropping in the 45° range some nights.. I think(hope) this cold will break soon..

We grow in the swamps to alot of times, you always gotta worry about rain an flooding, alot of times we stick our 5gallon buckets in huge dead cypress stumps, that's 3-4ft tall, and you will be surprised that people can walk right by the plants and want even notice them, plus you can move them if the lake or river starts rising.
Dont know nothin about the tubes ,sounds good.
And we just us the soil from that area, with a little perlite added.
Good Luck with yours, you just got to watch that rising water, cause it can wipe you out .

D.A.A.S.69 well it's right behind my dad's, it's more of a wetland then a swamp.. it just stays pretty wet.. thinking about using the tubes will be about 10-12 gallons of dirt an will be about 2ft off the ground... When the tap root hits the bottom in theory it should water it self... Most of the time.. but the only way to get to them is thru my dad's back yard unless U wanna walk thru the really swampy stuff.. an my brother is an idiot.. lol ima set bear traps back there.. see how the fuckers like that lol.. not so much worried about him as the other dick bags he brought with him last year..

Sorry about your headaches. Swamp mud is generally high in decaying organic material, which would help buffer the ph. I'm gonna predict it's between 6.5-7.5 and completely ready for your plants. Acidic soil generally comes from rainfall and lack of plants on top. Where in the world are you? You can gather quite a bit of soil information just based on your location. I like what the experienced Mississippi grower does above D.A.A.S.69 follow some of that game plan. Perlite and just dig a hole.
It's WAY to wet to just dig a hole.. an when it rains alot the ground floods a good bit.. so straight in the ground really isn't an option when U step on the ground it's smooshy that's y I was gonna build the swap tubes.. I've seen a few videos with alot of good results .. I'm on the east coast in Delaware , bout 45 mins from Philly, near a canal.. it's a massive pond that turns into a little stream an all the surrounding area is Wet As F, the one spot was perfect but can't plant there no more with out risking it getting ripped out .. was thinking of putting a layer of the bigger chunks of perlite in the bottom then the growing medium with a cup or 2 of lime mixed in.. the tubes will hold agood bit of dirt... Will end up being about 2.5' x 2.5', an really don't have to truck the dirt that far.. just on the other side of the cat tails or reeds whatever the hell they are so someone in paticular doesn't see them...

Hey 227, I hope you have good luck doing that, that way.
Back before you could buy good seeds, we used to put 8-10seeds in 5gallon pots, or larger pots, I know you ain't supposed to do that many in one pot, and it averaged out we get half females some of the time, sometimes more ,sometimes less, then when showed sex ,we'd cut the males out, and it would surprise you how big some of those plants got in those buckets with so little soil between for those plants. But in hot weather, we had to damn near camp out in the woods, with them, cause they drank so damn much water. And we used Ms.River water, with no problems, You just gotta make sure your buckets drain real good.
Ps, I can handle a few deer, but I can't tolerate a damn MJ, poacher, that's sorry and lazy, we caught a couple of folks one time that came in by boat from upriver on time to get our crops, but we had just chopped them down, when we got to their small Jon Boat, we poured all their gas out of their gas tanks, and this was just South of Vicksburg Ms. I bet that swift current carried them all the way to Natchez,Ms. Lol anyway they aint bothered us, no more. It sounds to me like your first job it measure the pH of the water.
It's about a 5, I just tested it last night goin' today to start prepping holes an finish makin the tubes, I'm just got 5 bales of promise bx mychorizae , mother earth grow nutes that's like a powder I guess haven't opened it , there's lime in the promix to help adjust the pH so may just add a little more an got 2 huge bags of vermiculite , will post pics once I gettem planted, lots of work here the next couple days.. an the girls are all atleast a foot or better

And when your buddies come over, they always want you to give them some of your hard work, I used to share, but not anymore, I'll share butter beans, tomatoes and garden vegatables, but they sh-t out of luck with our MJ, except maybe a few joints.
Sounds like a great place to me. Swampier, Briarthickets places, will keep most poachers out. I dont know about your brother's friends though.

Yea, not so much worried about rippers an my brother won't even try if it requires a bit of work lol it's pretty much impossible to get to from the other 3 sides unless U wanna go waist deep in muck... Lol I am worried about catapillars/inch worms an slugs tho, an them nasty freakin bud worms... Think I'm gonna try makin the pepper garlic spray I seen posted somewhere ..what do U guys use to keep bugs off

Hey 227, where we grow it's sounds kinda like where you at, but it ain't close to the house, so we can't check on them that often,bout 25miles away from the house, and when we first started growing long time ago we never even noticed any problems, caused by bugs, just by deer, and as the years went by and we started getting reading information, about how all that sh-t ,they was trying to sell you, would help protect your plants, so some of us around here started trying some of that stuff, like 7dust, pouring it out around the plants, an citronella, and stuff like that, an that diatomas earth stuff later on,
But anyway, we never had no trouble with bugs till we started using that stuff, then we had more deer trouble, only bugs gave us trouble was mosquitoes, eating our ass up, so we don't use nothin no more. Unless you able to check on them everyday, you at the mercy of the weather. Rain washes most of that stuff away, quickly, unless you live close where you can check on them.

Bud worms! That's a new one, and not a very nice one. 
I'm starting to think that giant buds, while cool, are more inclined to problems because they can't exchange air and moisture as well as smaller bud and so are more likely to have mold. (I was super bummed when that biggest of my buds in a grow a couple of years ago was full of mold.
For my current SCORG grow, I trimmed and trained for many bud site so I have many smaller buds instead of fewer big ones. I'm curious to see what the weight will be, but I suspect that it will be about the same or more, and that the buds will be healthier.

Hey 227, I ain't sure but I think those kinds of bud worms, are called bore worms, they enter thru eating a hole in the stalks, and they will eat the whole bud, if you dont catch them first. Good luck.
Well I got 9 tubes made an set an filled with dirt, took 5 bales of promix bx mychorizae an used some mother earth dry ferts for veg an a small amount of lime an vermiculite have the bloom ferts to that I'll add right before they start blooming, did a 6-8 inch layer of vermiculite on the bottom then mixed in the rest as I went little by little, also put more perlite in with the dirt also
Have 11 more girls I have to put somewhere, not sure if I wanna spend another 250 on dirt an feets lol I could hike another mile thru the swamp an stickers up the hill where it's a bit dryer an putten straight in the black gold dirt that's already there... Which I might do...
