Out of Doors Newbie: No Lawyers.

Looking to start my next out of doors grow this spring. I got as far as needing a very large pot, 20 gallons plus, before I unsubscribed from the current thread that strayed.
So any way I am interested in keeping the conversation, minus the legal issues, going.

I dig holes. I start them indoors , I put them outdoor when they are a foot plus tall and threat of freezing gone. I keep em tied down in backyard, so that I can water and to avoid security and legal issues. I used alaska fish for veg and Alaska time release when flowering.
my 1 tip if your trying to hide them don't make patches of plants, one here one over there. 2 the smaller the plant the more likely animal will eat it.
3 beware of any light that hits the plant at night it will give you hermies.

I use pots. At least 20 gallon more bigger the better. 24" high should be tall enough. I grow in pots because here in the desert roots are always looking for water and my plants have been invaded by tree roots from 30 feet away. I start outdoors as soon as the nights are warm enough so seeds sprout. This is the desert you may be different. My best buds were on the low stressed trained branches and plant tops. Cut lower branches. Low stress training is not necessary but you can bring some buds more light and it will increase yield quite a bit to a whole bunch +30-40%. Outdoor sunlight is great! 🌻 Last summer I did autos and they produced quickly in my relatively short growing season....another month of good weather and I probably could have grown two successive crops! Great luck to you....lots of time to plan! 😊

Since autos are suggested to use the 20/4 or something close to that, did it take longer than expected because of the longer nights?

I thought 18/6 was suggested for autos, even though other growers here have bumped up the indoor light time (20/4, even 24/0). Or did I read it incorrectly from GWE? Anyhow, I think outdoors with summer sun is a different situation as far as light needs for autos. Mine were out mid-May to late July, and did great (cept for the bud rot due to unfavorable conditions near end of flowering). However, I would think an auto grow during August and September would take longer due to lower sun angle then. 🌻

I'd love to grow an auto that I could bring outside on porch during day, and bring inside over night. Now that I'm buying more seeds and getting more freebies, I feel like I can play around a little and not be afraid of ruining a precious seed (not that they aren't all precious). LOL
