I am thinking of using a polycarbonate roofing for my plants. Does the opaque polycarbonate let in enough light? The manufacturer says it lets in 85%. Is this enough? Any response would be great.

We used clear polyfilm and corrugated roof sheets. Over time they turned opaque from the dirt and grime. This surely would have blocked some light. Depending on the level of opacity, it should still let plenty of light through. I harvested 2 pound plants last season.

Thanks for the reply Danofdanger. I was considering using clear polycarbonate and opaque polycarbonate in alternate strips. so i might be on the right track,

Could you do opaque on the sides and clear on the top ? That way light from the top will go unaffected.

I need a little opaque on the top just in case someone decides to look over my fence. I have grown for years with no problem but would like a roof to help with privacy and to help keep mould away.
