Well I might have killed 3 of our plants. Went up to thin out some of the jungle after work. This is what I saw. Ended up being the PH was 2.6. I didn't have enough slack in the wire of the dosing system probe that floats in the reservoir. When the water level dropped, it got hung up and was not submerged. The doser added almost a whole quart of down. All was good Wednesday night, 24 hours later, not good. I unplugged the doser, fixed the ph, cycled the system a few times. Not sure what's going to happen, but we will see what they look like after work. Got lazy just looking at the readout on the wall and not looking inside the reservoir. That will not happen again!

Mr Murphy strikes again. Once again we see how just one small flaw in a system can cascade into a major problem. One short piece of wire combined with getting to comfortable with letting the system run on it's own precipitated this system failure. Now we have learned to confirm all systems function properly, make sure the wire has plenty of slack. Also perhaps we learn to limit the amount of ph down available as a fail safe to the system to prevent overdose. We will also see what happens to plants when the ph goes wacky. Dam shame the plants had to suffer for it, hope they recover. Please keep up the posts on the grow. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

This reminds me of an incident early in my career as a student. I saw that a resident wrote an order for 1000 units of insulin in 1000ml of saline on a slow IV drip. I objected to this order and was rebuffed by this intern. I refused to back down and took it to my supervisor. I explained the situation and said that I was not comfortable with the order due to possible negative consequences in the event of a malfunction. He agreed with me and was royally pissed at this intern. He explained to the intern that an incorrect coding of the pump, or a pump failure would likely result in the death of the patient. He then tore up the order in front of him (pre computer days) and said "we will pretend that this order never existed". Stick to your values, don't back down, and triple check your and someone else's work and don't let your guard down to Murphy showing up. Good learning experience. But I digress.
 
Well, I think I am going to call them toast. They have not drank a drop since it happened. I cut off most of the dead leaves. Slowly just getting crisper and drying up and dying. Guess that's what happens when they drink acid for a day.

Dammit. I've got to do the same to a few of mine but at least they were still in early veg. Ouch. Just ouch. Hope you've got a decent stash to get you through.
 
The plan is to get the dead ones out of there. Clean it up a little, sterilize the buckets and res. Try to move the 2 smaller plants from this side to give them some breathing room. Try to finish the best I can, make a few changes and do better next time.

Dam shame, I can relate. That was a nice grow. Trial by fire you have been through I say. Time to cut the loss and plan the next go at it. This is why we try harder next time.
 
It definitely sucks but that's how my dumbass learns. I can screw up a wet dream. I'm doing better than I expected thanks to GWE , but still have a lot to learn.
 
Hey Sorry about your loss Ck, I'm not gonna beat you up over it! Mr. Murphy strikes when you least expect him so ya take one for the team and that's when his cousin Mr. Dumbshit sneaks over so watch out. Sorry just trying to lighten the mood a bit!
 
Got'em all cut up. Space cleaned up and h2o2 running thru the system. Couple had decent trunks on them.

Dang. I was going to suggest a community funeral. Mine haven't been watered for a week and they were feather light then. Maybe save the two youngest, maybe just one. If there are live wild thai shoots I might try to root them, save the seeds I have. My planned grow schedule is out the window. Honey just emailed me, Stonington Blend was $6 cheaper than usual, got a bag on the way using gift cards I won. I won't be in trim jail for the holidays this year.
 
Hang in there bud persistence is the key. The grow before my current one I had a huge 4x4 foot monster that I had raised for 12 weeks and was 3 weeks into flower. I killed her by turning her oxygen off when cleaning the tent. Didn’t notice until it was already too late. All you can do is the best you can to insure you make all new mistakes and not repeat the lessons hard learned.
