Old school not sure about led

This seems to be where most people are confused about how some led manufacturers describe their fixtures. DO NOT look at equivalent ratings(as in it's a 2000w lamp). The only useful metric is ACTUAL power consumption. If the fixture uses older tech diodes common in 'blurple' type lights, they need the SAME power density as your old faithful HPS rig(that's 50w/ sqft). Current tech diodes(lm561c, lm301b) need about 30w/sqft to achieve the same light output.

I am very happy with my COB LED lights. I have to LED grow boxes: one was HID but I converted the ballast to a second LED https://www.bcnorthernlights.com/led-lights/
(A grow buddy is going to use the HID ballast and bulbs.)

Here's why I chose LED for the second box:
1. I checked with my lux meter and the LED light was stronger further down than the HPS.
2. It uses half the energy of HID bulbs and produces less heat. Easier to keep my grow room temps down.
3. Bulb life: 13 years. I don't have to change a lightbulb until I'm 79.
4. The light is white and it's so much easier for me to see than the yellow HPS bulb. I hate yellow light.
