Old Grower Coming Back to the Game

What’s up everyone 👋

I used to grow a few years ago, then I stopped because I had a close friend supplying me with decent smoke all the time. Unfortunately he quit recently, and buying from the streets these days is getting ridiculous… prices are crazy and the quality is hit or miss.

So instead of wasting money on overpriced weed, I decided to get back into growing my own again. I still remember some basics, but I’m sure I’ve got a lot to catch up on.

Glad to join the forum and learn from experienced growers again 🌿

Welcome growdelight Glad you're back in the game. If you have questions, ask away. There's lots of knowledgeable people on the forum. There are some tabs at the top of this page that have good info for you. Perhaps some of it can be a refresher of sorts, and don't forget to checkout the main web site. GWE installed google as their site search engine. It's really good.

There's nothing quite as satisfying as enjoying your own grow knowing it's as good as and most of the time better than dispensary weed. Have you decided what you're going to grow and how you're going to do it? I grow in the autopot system with a 5050 blend of coco/perlite as the grow medium. I use CX Horticulture nutrients. They work well in the autopot system.

Hello shadycon. Chipmunk here. I am new to this forum and 1st forum ever. The ole guy comment struck home. I have only had a computer for about 4 yrs, no joke but funny, I guess! And my new cell phone is a flip! I'm 75 and still kicking. I wonder how many oldsters there are on this forum? I imagine the 60 years that I have been smoking ganja is longer than most of the people here are old. I could be wrong though!

I'm pretty sure it's mostly us older folks on these grow forums. The subject comes up occasionally and almost everyone is over 40 with the majority over 60, I'll be 60 next February. The kids nowadays don't have the patience to grow for the most part. Just goes to show it's never too late to teach an old dog new tricks. 🐕

Chipmunk; We need an ole fart section . I'm 74, started smoking at around 15, not cigs. I'm getting use too the new way of growing, a lot different than it was in the 60's-70's. The new growers don't know what they missed, but with the ease of access to information and a little common sense growing is a lot more fun and rewarding. Enjoy your spring grows everyone...................

You guys are funny...1958 was a very good year. I smoked weed all through the 1970's, took about a 37 year break and now we're smoking again...and growing our own. These are the good old days as far as I am concerned.

Chipmunk here. Love the old fart section, great idea! Hey shadycon, do we have Nam in common? I'm still struggling on how to navigate this forum

Hey, Growdelight.
I've been growing outdoors in garden soil and in a greenhouse w/coco perlite since my state state legalized in 2020.
If you want to try this instead of indoors respond back. I harvest way more weed than I can use.

Hello allotrope1000. Chipmunk here. I agree that growing outside will give you huge yields. I miss that! I didn't grow in a greenhouse. The bugs were the biggest problem growing outside in my opinion!

Hey, Chipmunk!
Don't know your location, but in the hellish summers of the AZ desert we get bugs, too.
I learned some good pest management tricks as a Master Gardener that you can try sometime.

- Coffee grounds. Bugs don't like them. I liberally sprinkle them on the ground after each watering. You can get big bagful at Starbucks for free - just ask. The baristas also love my plant pics.

- DE. Diatomaceous earth. A fossilized single cell diatom exoskeleton. A superfine powder available at pool supply stores (used for pool filters). My pool service guy gives me what I need. As insect control, sprinkle on theground. The razor sharp microedges slice up the bugs' chitinous shells. Then, they dehydrate and die.

I had ZERO bug problems last year. Good luck with your grow!

Thanx Allotrope 1000. I have trouble navigating the forum. I am computer challenged. I live in the Missouri Ozarks. Much better summers here and I appreciate the good ideas for helping with bug control. Thanx Chipmunk

Purple goji from Bodhi seeds, my buddy gave me a few plants last year, haven't found any more seeds,I buy a bunch of I could

As for bugs This yr. I'm trying essence oils in a defuser. It runs about 12 hrs. per 300 ml filling. So far no bugs......................
