Noob DWC questions

Noob, mix your nutes in your water, and then pH the stuff. And while it's true that I use pH down most of the time, you don't want to be without pH up!!

I check my pH religiously every morning.

it wasn't a new mix of nutes . it was almost before it was time to change the nutes . about 3 days before.
i still keep the pH up but i just keep it separate now .
i usually add a tsp to 2 tsp of pH down to lower the pH .
thanks for the quick response . your help is appreciated.
i like hydroponics better than soil.
when growing in soil i taught myself to check on the grow less frequently and will have to train myself to check daily or every other day .
THANK YOU

When I mix my nutrients I start by filling my container with water, then I add HydroGuard (to prevent root rot) and mix well. Next, I add my Cal-Mag and then mix well again. Then, I add my base nutrients and any other micro nutrients and give it one last shake. Then I check the pH and adjust as needed from there.

When I top off the reservoir during the week in between changes, I was just using pHed HydroGuard water but this last time I tried adding everything but the micro nutrients and topped the reservoirs off to see if that helps or hurts them. My thinking is that if you added only water to the mix, you are thinning out your nutrient mix and dropping the PPMs but by adding more of what was already in it, you change nothing.

When I top off if they are drinking a lot, I never add more nutes during the week--just pH'd water. I figure they get enough nutes feeding them once per week.

i use fox farms . the grow big is organic and 6-4-4 npk instead of 3-2-2 fox farms advertise on their site. i went to a nursery and that is all they had available .
it has all the micro/macro nutrients just the 6-4-4 is for soil according to fox farms site.
i am still new to this and will accept all the advice i can get .
is hydroguard necessary ?
thanks

Hydroguard provides beneficial bacteria to fight root rot. It's a good preventative unless you've got light leaks into the reservoir or super high water temperatures.
