No internodal separation

The photos are a couple of the OG Kush I started from seed exactly one month ago. I just topped both a couple of days ago. Both are planted in the same batch of coco/perlite, and both are being fed from the same batch of nutrients. Before they were topped, one appeared to have normal internodal separation, for the other the space between the nodes was practically non existent. After topping it appears that the one is continuing to exhibit practically no internodal separation.

Since they are both growing under the same conditions, I have to wonder if the the "Danny DeVito" plant is showing its genetics.

Do any of you "gurus of ganja" have any thoughts on this?

My seedlings usually start out life with very little internodal separation, and I always chalked it up to using a strong light at somewhat close distances, the opposite of how a seedling will stretch looking for the sun if it doesn’t have strong enough light. But your Danny Devito there is a pretty extreme example. I’m very interested to see if anyone has a good explanation.

Rik - I considered the light, but since the others were doing OK I left things alone. Maybe there is enough difference in this one plant that it makes a difference. I think I will back it off a bit and see if it makes a difference.

Going2fast - Yes. Based on my limited knowledge of phenotypes I am leaning toward that conclusion myself. I have read where other folks plant a couple extra seeds more than the number they want to grow, then pick the most healthy ones to continue the grow. I suspect this is the reason.

All part of the learning process I suspect......

Weird. That's worse than my Northern Lights auto (bastard). Four inches 'tall' when harvested. It was tight-noded, topped and pretty much stopped, but not like that. I got an 1/8th out of the whole plant.
