Does Using the sand affect the watering at all?

Not noticeably. Just dampen the sand before you water heavily or itll roll off. If you water slow it's no different.

Sorry guys, been failing at updating this one. Plant is doing fine, small but beautiful. Soil seems to be doing very well. Nothing but PHd water. I've been watering a little every day or so, seems if I keep it kind of moist and just water a little here and there I get no runoff and she seems to like it.

Maybe she was stunted or maybe she was just a smaller phenotype but shes looking damn healthy and still growing. Still haven't let the soil dry completely out, I water her a little every day in between 6.3 and 6.7 PH. No trimming or LST or any kind of training. Last pic is for a height comparison against the Lemon OG Haze

B.T. why are you watering every day? If I water mine even before 3 or 4 days they droop like crazy. Some of them still haven't recovered from having done that several weeks ago. Are you watering from above are still putting water in a tray from Below?

Watering from above. I'm doing a little everyday because this soil doesnt seem to like big waterings without running straight out of the sides or bottom. I've been keeping an eye on her for any drooping or leaf curling to indicate overwater but shes shown nothing of the sort.

She gets around 26-40oz of water every day or two depending on how the pot feels

This girl is taking off! Shes now about 2 inches taller than the Lemon OG and still not full on flowering. I've added a supplement to her watering schedule. It's called MammothP, a microbial additive. Not sure if you can see the Lemon OG and the top of the WW reaching for the light but they've never done that, their first MP feeding was 12 hours ago.

1 feeding of 1ml per gallon and I see a difference. Cant wait to see a full grow cycle with this.

glad I didnt pull her out like I was thinking about, shes grown up. Putting trichs out already also.

haven't noticed any deficiencies at all. Only been adding mammothP to her water. I also let her really dry out and for 2-3 days after an air light pot she didnt show any signs of thirst so I've been watering her a little less frequently.

been seeing some gnats so I hit all the plants with a layer of sand

Iv here a few guys talk about gnat issues. Are they just little bugs that creep into your grow space?

Iv also been following PaganRich and his spider mites. Makes me nervous that I could bring these little monsters into my tent!

Any tips to reduce chances of it happening?

Ya, just little flying bugs. It's their larvae that hurt you though, eating roots and all.

I seem to get gnats no matter what I do to prevent them so sand is my go to barrier to prevent adults laying eggs in the soil and larvae emerging as a adults.

I've been battling fungus gnats here as well. The sand didn't work because it would move out of the way and expose soil when I water. So I'm going with in organic spray. Your plant looks great by the way.
