Nirvana WW Auto Sohum Soil Test

Hello GWE!

I'm going to be trying out another water only soil for my autos. I have been using Roots Organic Original over Kind Soil and I've been happy with the results so far. My first harvest is around 3 weeks away. With that being said, it's fairly expensive and doesnt store well for very long from what I've been told, so I'm venturing out.

I came across Sohum soil and was pretty interested although I couldn't really find to many completed grows that used it so here's mine! Price is a lot more manageable and can be stored for up to a year.

Seeds are Nirvana White Widow Autos.

Weeks 1-3 will be in my 2x2x4 tent under 4 26w 6500k cfls.
Weeks 4-finish will be in the 3x3x6 with a 315cmh.

Seed was placed in a moist paper towel in a ziploc bag on top of my air filter in the 3x3 tent on Saturday 11/10.

2 days later she already had her taproot out. 11/12

I placed her in the root pod Tuesday morning 11/13 and woke up to this today 11/14. 80°F and 90%RH under the dome in the 2x2x4.

I like to update pretty frequently so check back every 2-3 days for more!

So to be honest i have no idea what I'm doing with this starter plug...

Seems to be stretching more than I'd like so I took it out of the dome and closer to the lights. Conditions now are 82°F and 60%RH. Repurposed the top of the wifes creamer bottle and blacked it out so the roots are covered once they start popping out. I know roots dont like light.

Definitely open to advice on this please!

Not much going on here. Taproot has pushed out of the bottom of the plug. Waiting to see a couple more then she'll go in the 5 gallon pot with Sohum.

Went out drinking last night and woke up to a transplanted seedling. So starts day 1 in the Sohum.

Looks like I did alright, soils damp not soaked. Wont know if I hurt the roots or not for a couple days so we wait and see.

She seems to be chugging along. Just watered 1/3 of a gallon today no additives or PH testing.

Also hoping I wont need sand this time? Haven't seen a single gnat. Could be I've finally learned how to water correctly or the cold ass weather, who knows.

Temps are staying mid 70s and RH is 60%.

Sand for fungus gnats? Never knew that. I was planning on getting some diatonatious earth ( probably spelled wrong!)

Exactly! DE didnt work for me. I was either watering to frequently or I didnt put enough on top. Sand has worked perfectly though and it's super cheap. 3/4 to an inch deep.

What bulbs did you use to sprout that.? Last seeds I started I used a 60w CFL grow bulb from Amazon. It's a HUGE bulb, and kept it about 10" from the plugs. All 5 STRETCHED big time.

All 4 are 26w 6500k

@Greenpasion, I use 23w cfl's for sprouts for the 1st week then under T5's for veg.There is a bit of a learning curve for how close the bulb can be without burning or stretching the sprout.

So we're at 9 days from sprout. Doesnt look like I hurt her to much with the drunken transplant. Watered 1/3 gallon today and got runoff out of the bottom? Might have to water this soil less but more frequently.
