I haven't had to buy seeds for a while, and a while back this site recommended Nirvana. I have always got great seeds from them but I wanted to hear what others thought about Nirvana. I appreciate all responses! Thanks

I have not made any purchases from Nirvana that I recall. I have had good service and good products from Royal Queen Seeds, Multiverse Beans, North Atlantic Seed Company, ILGM, and Ace Seeds. I just made a purchase from Mandala Seeds. It was the best stealth packaging I have seen.

Hi T-Bob, I think we may know one another from a different life. Nirvana was on top of their game 10 years ago but they have been on a steady decline since. When I started noticing the parents of my favorite strains were changing but the strain name didn't I knew something was up. Ethos is my go to breeder, and you just cant beat Barneys for consistency

And I dont buy anything that ships from overseas, I buy all my seeds from NASC up here in Maine. Maine is a ways out but there are no borders to cross to the US and shipping with tracking is cheap

I hear ya about the over seas shipping. I like buying from USA seed companies if I can. No offense to anyone. Just a preference. I learned a little bit trying to find a particular strain recently. The fine folks at NASC informed me that they don’t have access to Ace Seeds full catalog even though they are an authorized dealer. Had to go to Mandala to get what I was after.

Buying seeds stateside means I will never get a note in the mail saying the USPS has thwarted my attempt at bringing down US agriculture by importing unknown seeds.
Buying from a breeder means you are growing their interpretation of such and such. If you like Strain X, do some experimenting and see who grows the best version of that strain. Like Allenpro alluded to, even breeders change things up.
All I look for is Indica or Sativa. Names and statistics mean next to nothing to me. I will never be able to grow the Strain Y I buy nor make the same quality extracts. I grow dope, do what I do, and hope for the best.
The competition these days comes down to customer support. I can get quality seeds from many places. If I have an issue and want a little customer support and get none, I'm done with the company. That simple. I have two good companies I have added to my do-not-use list, only for customer service.

Ordering seeds from outside the country is a risk but I just received some seeds from "The Real Seed co " with no problem. Looking forward to growing some pure sativas from Africa and Laos. Interested in the Cretan also as it sounds like it should do well outdoors here in Virginia. This is my second order from them with no problems. Love the stealth packaging also

Holy heirlooms and landraces! Those people are all about heirlooms and landraces! Prices are way better than I would imagine. Even in pounds.
Here's a question. One of the articles I read said, "The seeds are from an open-pollination maintenance grow to preserve the full genetic diversity of the original accession." I imagine all their landrace strains are the same. Does that mean the seeds were gathered outdoors and you're getting photoperiods? No listed fem or autos in the site, but they do have a couple ruderalis strains.

I believe what that means is the beans were collected from the area they're from and then grown together in a closed environment to pollinate and seed like they would in their natural environment. I recall reading in the description of some of their Afghans that the seeds were collected just before the Taliban took over and that's how they reproduced them to preserve the genetics. So i think that's how they do it but I could be totally wrong. Last year i grew an Afghan Mazar-i-sharif that was incredible so definitely looking forward to growing more landraces. Love my modern Indicas and hybrids but looking for something a little different. And yeah they only sell regular photoperiods .

I feel that there are several reputable seeds companies out there.

I order seeds that have the genetics I want and then make my own fem photo or fem auto seeds from that plant(s).
I carefully harvest the pollen and pollinate a few lower branches on plants outside the greenhouse.
I get several dozen seeds per plant and, being careful, have had few issues contaminating sinsemilla buds.
Most of my homemade seeds sprout true to or close to the mother plant.

Why should the buyer have to share the risk, i still buy seeds from overseas breeders I just dont buy them direct from them. If I lived outside of the US I would do the same from within that country

I bought some Jamaican seeds from Landrace for breeding purposes that were the real deal. After 12 weeks in flower, incredible growth and no flowers I gave in and put them in it in the burning barrel. It made me realize the effort breeders put in to landrace strains is more than I care to invest, its a bit like trying to domesticate a wild animal. Sure it can be done but its a lot easier go with a domesticated animal

You cant beat Barney for consistent quality and phenotypes and very little phenotype variance. My wife is a big fan of the pineapple express and I like their sour diesel. Over the years I have bought several packs of their seeds and they pop and grow pretty much identical phenotypes every time

I appreciate you asking! All is good! Been sharing my body with cancer for more than 15 years. I have had to have a couple pretty brutal surgeries in the last 4 years but I am still plugging along. I haven't been growing much because my wife and I decided to spend the kids inheritance and do some traveling. I popped a California Orange Bud seed that was at least 4 years old and I am in the 3rd week of flowering. We hit the road again in June so I wanted to get a grow under my belt. I hope you and doing well! It's always good to see a friendly face!
