I was thinking of doing a few things different on this grow 1st I am going to do low stress growing as possible so Im going to plant right in 3 gallons from the start to avoid any transplanting.

I also want to run my nutes from the beginning more like in hydro or coco.

So can I flush my 3 gallons with enough water to get rid of starting nutrients? I planned on using 5.8 pH'D water to also get the soil into the correct pH range for initial planting.

Your talking about soil?
If it's a yes, then yes. Flush with six gallons, and always pH your water. It's good practice.
I usually make sure I've given my plants nutes at least twice before topping.
I practice the feedings as - nutes/nutes/flush - all the way until it's just flush.
 
Yes sir it is in soil.

I plan on buying 12-15 gallons of r/o just for the intial flush. Get the soil to a good starting pH and lowest ppm possible. Before my seed ever goes in then I plan on feeding a much more rigorous diet.

I love experimenting. Going from 7 gallons down to 3 and completely changing up feeding and training from one grow to the next.

7 gallons were just a mistake learned that from my last experiment.. lol
 
I completely agree. Plus the much easier to control RH with less moisture from larger pots. Ive been having real isdues.
 
Me too. I've only grown a couple autos, they never got so big that 3 gallons was a problem. I think it would take a fairly big plant to get rootbound in that.
 
Yes and plant size in correlation to pot size is huge. The size of my 3 plants in flower are ridiculous for a 4x4.
 
Good info I think I’d rather start with a cleaner medium and have more control on what you out in rather than waiting for what’s there to be used up.
 
It’s great reading these threads things I don’t think about etc being an issue. I debated going to 7 gallon in my 4x4 for four plants. Current plan is 5. I have 6 plants in 2 gallons right now in a 32”x32”x63” watered them all yesterday. My humidity has been pretty solid in the 45-55 range, hit 67 post watering.
 
Why not just run Coco? I think you're going through too much trouble TRYING to rinse out the nutrition in the soil. Honestly you won't know if you rinsed it all out until you have some kind of wierd problem. Then trying to diagnose a problem and have no idea what's in the soil. Coco is super easy to work with and much much less of a mess. With your set up how you're talking about you'll get soil growth rates and results and none of the coco/hydro results. I don't see many good things about using soil period. Then you're talking about adding in wierd nutrient issues you'll run into along the way, just grab a block or bag of the tried and true coco. You won't go back to soil.
 
I am actually in the process of switching to coco.! lol

I've already ordered coco, coco nutes and everything to run it. But I also have enough soil and soil nutes left for one grow figured not waste what I already paid for.

No issues from past grows either. Just want better control over the medium.
 
A much more elegant solution. I enjoy soil and hydro growing, and I like coco the least. But the way you're describing your process makes Watermelon's suggestion perfect.
 
If you aren't wanting to waste the soil you could always veg in the soil with solo cups then a few weeks in to veg you can transplant the solo cup into a larger pot of coco? A few weeks in you can use up most of the nutrition in the soil. It will be enough substrate to sustain them for a month and not have to worry about feeding them. That way you can use the soil AND the coco?
 
My understanding is you need to water coco much more frequently. A 3 day camping trip in soil no problem could you go 3 days w/out watering coco
