new to soil grow

hi I just planted a trainwreck in a 30gl smartpot. Out of a #5 pot. I will only be able to tend to every couple weeks. Distance is the reason for that. Yes someone is around to water just not a grower.
Anyways my question is this. I bought G&B eden valley blend and the guy at the shop said I could just add water probably thru veg until I'm ready to push flower nutes in mid to late July. Is this true? Should I add any type nute as I go or anything? Any help would be appreciative.

Most good organic soil will take you thru veg. Make sure the person watering your plant does not water it so much that lots of water runs out of the bottom or you will wash out the nutes out of the soil. Watch the plant and wait and see if you need to add anything to the soil during veg, but with that size pot I think you will be fine.

If you decide to do another soil grow consider using super soil on the bottom third of the pot, fox farm soil in the next third and the G&B soil in the upper third, this way you should be able to go thru the whole grow with just watering it. Good luck

Nice thank you. Yeah its at my parents in a private back area with great light all day. I will try that next time with the mix of soils.. I wanted it to be as easy as possible since I'm 2 hours away and will come back every other week give or take.
So I will be moving her to a 150 gl at some point. Can I just use more of this organic and add supersoil to the bottom? I need to push bloom in mid to late July. Especially being on the coast was my thoughts. Can I use a bloom nute with the super soil added too? Or just leave it alone?

Oregon the difference between bloom nute and veg nute is n nitrogen , during bloom the plant does not use a lot of n but it uses a ton of potassium and potash p and k thats where the npk labels come from on most fertilizers I grow om the east coast outside gorilla grows I use a super soil in 5 gallon holes in the woods I dont fertilize very often unless the plant needs it but when it gets to Aug. I start giving it some pk boosters I use open sesame, beasty bud and cha cing weeks 1-4 open sesame, weeks 4-6 beasty bud and week 6-8 cha cing then I flush with water and molasses once my trichomes are about 30% amber hope that helps

Thanks man. very informative. First outdoor on my own. I was wondering exactly that! Does it get enough N thru veg until mid to late July? I was thinking a seaweed extract or something for veg time. Maybe once a week or something. I understand nutes ok. I just haven't learned soil very well yet. I want it massive since I am only putting one there on the coast. Bigger is better!

OTL, yes you can use the same soil ratios in the bigger pot.

If there is a Hydro store that you can get to you should check out the soils and use one that is for weed, you should be able to get super soil there also. You should not have to feed the plant anything else with good soil. Watch your plant and if it looks like it needs more nutes during late flowering you could top dress her with more of the organic soil so leave space at the top of the pot.
