I am starting my first grow and I couldn’t be more excited!
i set up my tent today it’s a 5’x5’ x 6.5’. Got a couple seedlings just sprouted this morning and my blue cookies arrived today and I started germinating them as soon as I got them. I live in Canada and it does get cold. I’m growing I an unheated attic space that could be as low as 5-6 degrees C I’m thinking that my 600w led will heat my tent to a decent temp. Any thoughts on if this may be too cold?
 
Some others with more experience can say for sure but I don’t think an led is gonna raise the temperature of a 5x5 nearly enough if the room temperature is close to freezing. I have Mars ts1000 and it doesn’t effect the temperature of my 3x3 more than a few degrees.
 
I think I would have to agree with Xena i run leds in my 3x3 and there's at most a 5 degree difference between lights on and lights off
 
Best suggestion would be an oil-filled convection heater in the tent.
The light won't emit enough heat to keep it warm enough.
I would also run the lights at night to keep it as warm.
I've been growing with leds for 5 years now and the plants will be happier if you can keep the room at 28degC.
 
600w will warm it some if you're talking actual wattage, but you will need something else for when you turn off the lights. I've had to use a little electric heater in my closet during winter and I live in the desert. I like gbauto idea of oil heat better than electric I get away with it because it doesn't get that cold in my house. I would suggest trying to keep the temperature above 60°f above 65 is better
 
Thanks for the responses folks. Food for thought ! I’ve been thinking since and maybe a thermostat controlled heater for outside the tent may work. Drawing heated air thru the bottom flaps on the tent. Do you think a heater inside the tent may be too close to the plants and have a harmful effect?
 
Now that you've given birth Greencape , you need to keep up with your weed porn.

The downside to feeling like you now have children will come at harvest time. Your emotions will be aflutter because you will cutting their heads off and hanging them to dry. Then burn, ingest, dab, vape, apply, or otherwise imbibe in their very souls. Their mind bending souls. Then you will have your next litter and forget all about the last, save how fucked up you got. You will show pictures like a proud parent would. Seedling. Early veg. Late veg. And so on. When you get to flowering, you will not show pictures of the others unless specifically asked. You will show pictures of flowers. Vegging plants are not money shots. Flowering is where you get the oohs and ahhs and requests from friends for a little bud.
 
I have the same issue. I use a 600w HPS to keep the heat and I also need a heater inside the tent. LED doesn’t produce heat. And Remember when the lights go out your plants will still need 18c at least to keep them warm so I suggest you get a heater inside.
