Yeh you will need a heater of some type and on a sensor so you can set it, also humidity at night. GL I hope you let us know how you’re progress goes.
 
Mars hydro has always been affordable and done well for me. But 2-3 plants is not specific enough for which wattage. How big are your 2-3? Height and width.
Most importantly, how much are you trying to yield on those?
 
Hey toker1 I've got seeds so not really sure about size and purely for personal so yield will be whatever I get I'll just be happy if they survive I've only grown 1 plant b4 this summer on window sill
 
Check this one out (link posted below). I have 2 of these. Keeps 4 small mother plants thriving. I can pull up to 150 clones per month off them. You should be able to get an oz (28.5 grams in metric) or two (57 grams in metric) off this light. Good for first time grows.
Your main issue will be temp/humidity control in that attic space. Attics tend to fluctuate and usually need some type of insulated room built inside of them to make temp control easier.
