new grower..clone question(s)

Hello, everyone...!!! I just joined this forum and I'm eager to jump right in...with my ignorance and the questions...I've (I hope) included a few pictures of my current..and ill fated grow....Neighbors discovered it (the grow) and I'm an old man and just can't take the chance..so it is, most likely, the end of the road for these.....BUT....laughs before I do..I would like to make sure my thinking is on the right track. These are from seeds of unknown origin....Can any of you wise growers tell me, just by the first picture...what strain this may be....?? The plants (there are 2 of them) are doing really well.....Which leads to question #2....I'd like to at least try to make clones from these....in Picture 2 is the clone potential and in picture 3 i've marked (I hope) where, generally, I'd make the 45 degree cut....?? At this point..I'm more than willing to experiment on these plants..but I do want to get an understanding of how to generate clones, first. Any advice would be most appreciated....!!!!

Unfortunately there's no way to tell what strain they are, and yes, you can take cuts from where you indicated,do you plan on buying a cloner,or building one?? they're pretty easy to build, you'll need a heavy duty tote and a pool noodle, also an air pump and air stone, and a drill and a hole cutting bit
 
Those plants are in flower. I've never done clones but I thought that's not good. Or is that just for autos?

wow those all look great..the plants...some of them seem to be out in...well, just a room..not in a grow tent...? I have so much to learn here and I'll constantly apologize for asking so many questions....
 
Ok..so this is now super interesting..to me, anyway..if the plants I have are actually in flower..that may change things...I just assumed the flowering stage was yet to come....I think I'll still try to get clones from them..but maybe let the...what I think could be called the mother plant..grow a bit longer....?? I don't have a tent but now I'm wondering if (seeing those plants that look like they are inside (and not in a grow tent)...Can i just bring the mother plant inside...I get regular light inside here..not nearly as much as they get outside..but nosy neighbors scare the shit outts me, i'll be honest....
 
Ah....gotcha.....ok..so back to the clone and compost plan then.....this is, i have to admit...fun learning, by doing..i just did NOT count on the neighbor issue...I'm an idiot....
 
Realistically any indoor growing will require a good grow light. It is virtually impossible without. You could maybe start seedlings or mess around a bit in a really sunny window with the correct temps/humidity but not get to any real harvest. You can grow inside without a tent but most of us find the tent is key to managing climate to keep the plants happy and also to contain things in general.

Yeah it does Bowhunterwoody They go through this really fucked up stage and can't work out what to do apart from stretch lots and then a few weeks later back to a lanky looking veg.

Ive cloned veg and flower. The old fashioned way appears to be when in flower... you used to get a higher success rate with less N requirements.

Nowadays with the advent of aeroponics, which gives 100% success rate, no need to go down the flower road.
 
I’m going to answer your question out here in the open forum. No problem to direct message people if you don’t want it to be public but otherwise keep your questions out in the open so others can chime in. You’ll get more info and opinions that way.
i feel for you folks still suffering the stupid prohibition , you should not have to take that risk.

My answer is yes it smells, especially if it’s good. I’m lucky to live in Canada where it’s legal and in the country where there’s no one to piss off with smells, so I just blow my tent exhaust out the window. Most people draw air into their tent from the room the tent is in and use a charcoal filter to clean the exhaust air which dumps back into that room. My understanding is they work pretty well. However you will have to open your tent regularly to tend the plants and that will let the smell out so you will have to manage that as well. It’s not to bad for the first half of the grow but in flower it can get really strong.

excellent advice....!! on both counts...I need to get a grip that this is a place for weed growers..I'm too old and still paranoid...!! Plants are now in the compost bin...It is not a total loss, however...Now I know I can actually grow plants..I just need to get the tent sorted...Work in progess...!!!

old habits die hard , its been legal here since 2018 and it still feels weird to not be paranoid

Good advice from the others. I'd like to toss in a few comments.
You need to plan your grow. Do you know where? First read up on stealth techniques to keep it hidden. Buy a small, all inclusive tent kit. 2 x 2 or 2 x 3 in a closet should be enough. Buy some LOW SMELL autoflower seeds. Use coco perlite in +/- 5 gallon pots and General Hydro Flora Trio with a pH pen to adjust pH properly. This and reading of the GWE grow tips should get you to harvest. Don't know how safe it will be!
 
I, sincerely apprecate all of this advice...!!! Planning the grow, ahead, carefully is excellent advice...I just did not, clearly, think about all of the variables. One thing that occurs to me, now..is...once the grow tent is set up and going...assuming that is just a question of when..the tent, itself, will have to be open for a period of time...checking on them: watering them..etc and etc....The smell can be contained, in the tent itself..but once it's open...I'll need to filter the air in the room the tent is in..or even the whole apt...or is that going a bit to far..?? I can take zero..and I mean zero chances where I am now..and if a whole room air filter is the way to go..this grow is getting...before it's even started, more and more expensive..and I've not even thought (very much) about seeds, yet. I seriously did not think it was going to be this involved...and potentially, quite expensive. Upside..laughs..is obvious..but the initial start up coast is getting prohibitive...??!!
 
or...laughs and I just have to write this..although I'm sure you all feel this and think along these lines...we (here in the U.S.) could just legalize this amazing plant and move on with our lives....
