SOIL New Grow

OH...Yeah...you need to know what your leaf temps are to get a true VPD number. I like to use Dimlux's VPD charts as they have one for each temp offset up to 5°.

About 8 days since manually opening the coyts on these little ones and 6 days since putting jiffy pellets into soil
(I personally don't cut the net on the pellets as I find it doesn't restrict root or stem growth)
I watered each 40ml today with a root booster solution. Turned light up to 220ppfd.
Everything else is in spec.

Another few days and another 40 MLS of root booster solution. Looks like they handling the current schedule pretty good to me,..
I've been turning my air exchange fans off overnight as it's been literally freezing overnight and that doesn't seem to be bothering them either although I have a fairly sizable room and it's not 100% airtight.
I made a mistake last post with my ppfd... It was on 220 and today I turned it up to 250. Looks like the next lot of leaves will be 5 fingered and I'm gonna call that vegetative stage and turn the light up to 300ppfd in a few days.
Get your choof on!!

The potting mix I used was also from a hardward store. I added around 30% perlite but I would double that with this media.

Rogee, I'll definitely be adding something like perlite to the final potting. Starting to wish I used it in these pots too. Oh well another week or two and they'll be ready for their final home get them settled and start topping and training. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

Replacement seeds arrived today, something for every occasion. ✊🏾✊🏾🤙🏾

2 weeks since opening cloytelons.
Stems starting to fatten up, was going to water today but I'm having trouble keeping the room warm overnight ( dropping to 64f ) so think I'll hold off a day. Quite happy with the progress so far.

If you have a seed mat for germination you can use it on the young sprouts to keep them warm at lights off. Just be careful and don't go nuts on the heat so you don't affect your roots. I like 77°/25C for root temps.

Yea ive got a heat mat bro but its not adjustable and I worry if I don't get out there first thing in the morning it might cook them. In a week or two I'm going to upgrade my smaller oil heater to a 11 fin hopefully that will cure the chills.
Reading your comment on my topping practices has got me thinking,These are blue dream photos would you top once or twice or not at all?

You can keep the roots from cooking by raising the pots. The warmth that comes off the pad should be enough to keep them warm.

As far as topping, it really depends on how much time you want to keep them in veg and how much room you have in your space to grow them. Topping them will slow down growth temporarily but will reward you with more and bigger lateral branching meaning you'll have more consistently sized flowers rather than the traditional Christmas tree shape where the top cola is the biggest.

What are you feeding your plants? Are you using soil nutrition like in organic grows or are you supplementing with fertilizers? I use synthetic fertilizers as it allows me to supplement the plant when it needs more of a particular nutrient at a particular growth phase. I use this chart as a general guideline. The only thing I've found to be different is to start Cal/Mg a couple weeks sooner.

Do you use any Silicone in your feeds? I find using Mono Silicic Acid to be quite useful, especially if you are pruning for more branching. IIRC, a botanist told me that using MSA, if you are topping and FIMming, will work together with calcium when it is building branch cellulose and strengthen the cell walls allowing for larger and heavier colas without having to trellis or yo yo them from falling over.

What I like to do is to try and balance the extra time topping adds to veg by FIMming. FIMming is less stressful on your plants meaning the stunting window is much smaller. I'll usually top after I see node 6 forming and remove it leaving 5 nodes to break the Apical Dominance. I'll give it a week to recover and start to sprout new lateral branching. Once I see that the new laterals have established themselves, I'll FIM specific areas to try and get more branching and bud sites ready so that when I flip the light schedule I have strategically placed my bud sites where they can get as much light exposure as they can without any of the other leaf material blocking them along with filliing in the screen I use when I ScrOG. This keeps me from having to constantly be pruning away leaves.

What part of Oz are you from? When I was semi pro surfing I got to surf all over the Gold Coast in Queensland. I also got to surf at Bondi and Bells along with Margeret River, Manly and Byron Bay. Back in the day my Ozzie friends would tell me that in Australia you were either a pro surfer or an electrician(Sparky)!:hard-laugh::hard-laugh::hard-laugh::hard-laugh::hard-laugh:

Awesome man, thanks for your help. I have only been feeding them with root booster and one was looking a little bit pale so I gave it some nitrogen+cal-mag and that greened it up in 24 hrs, I used supersi (silica) in my DWC setup but I haven't got any left. I've got synthetic nutes left over from my last DWC if I need to top up. I will be using "water only" turbo dirt purpose made for cannabis that also came with some organic powders for roots and one for flower that I'll add when needed.
I've noticed that with the three Ive got going now that 2 are looking like they will be tall and need a top and training and 1 is looking like it'll be naturally bushy even though they supposed to all be blue dreams.... I'll post photo later.. so I might do something different on all 3 for shits and giggles and see what happens.

Yea nice, I'm down south, but have travelled around a bit and lived bout 45 mins from Byron bay for a couple of years working in the forests cutting down trees in a harvester inland from Coffs Harbour..? Tell you what, every 2nd area that we were working in id come across fenced off areas, man made little dams at the bottom of valleys with drip irrigation set ups, heaps of water and feet containers, full blown bush grows. We were warned by the forest owners NOT to interfere or call the authorities as other companies had had their machinery either fucked with or burnt because they were falling trees onto crops...

Did you happen to get out to Nimbin by any chance? Love that place, you should google it if you haven't heard of it, it's like your in a different country or even planet haha lived with some hippies there for a few months.

They all look pretty healthy. I have 4 femmed White Widow x Sour Diesel seeds growing in my 5 x 5 on a ScrOG net. Originally one of the sprouts died on transplant so I had to germinate and try and grow another to replace it. So far it's about half the size as the others although one of the 3 that is left looks like it didn't like the transplant either as it seems a bit sickly. I think I also toxed it a bit. The other 2 healthy ones I gave a full shot of some synthetic ferts too along with the 3rd one and I think I overdid it a bit. After a couple of days I watered in a few liters of plain water to dilute the nutrition in the soil along with lowering the light intensity over that plant. It looks like it is slowly recovering. The leaves were starting to taco and were looking like they needed more calcium and magnesium so I've got a bottle of CALiMAGic on the way. I didn't think I would need it with as much calcium that we have in our tap but I guess it needs more. I'll post a picture of where they are at when the lights go on.

Thanks, I'm just warming up some rainwater and then I'm gonna do final transplanting this Arvo 🤞it goes well. That organic powder I was talking about is root roids which is mycorrhizal fungi I'm going to put a little at the bottom of my hole and a little around the surface before watering in, think I got some kelp liquid too which is also supposed to help with shock and accelerates vegetative growth.. Hopefully yours bounce back and continue to power on.
One thing I noticed on the one I gave a little cal-mag too a couple of leaves now have whitish splotches on them, I'm thinking maybe too much calcium 😳
