Found this. Old article, it says they work well but should not be used for last couple of weeks because they will strip the plant of it's smell.

Agreed. How it works is by ionizing suspended particles in the air. The particles drop to the floor and collect there. So it’s actually a 2 part process, one is the ionization process and the second is you mopping or vacuuming up the particles from the floor.
I believe positive pressure through a carbon filter is less labor intensive. Plus what was mentioned about, ionization May potentially effect final flavor.
