nebula when measuring grow room enviorment temperature

The canopy is the best place to put your thermometer since that's likely to be the hottest part for your plants, but sometimes that's not possible. My thermometer/hygrometer is magnetic and I usually put it on the edge of my hood on the opposite side to the bulb (so it's not getting the direct heat from the bulb). I feel like this gives you a good idea of the ambient temperature, and then I put my hand where the plants are for 30 seconds to make sure it feels comfortable under the lights. If both are on target, you're good to go!
This is the thermometer I use. It's actually made for incubating eggs but it can handle high temperatures and I feel like it's more accurate than the other ones I've tried
Each plant is a little different so I also try to pay attention to the plants for signs of heat stress (tacoing, leaf edges turning up, etc).
Some Indica strains are really sensitive to heat, while some Sativa strains from the equator don't seem to mind the heat at all!
