Nebula - what is a visitor message?

I went to my user profile and beside my avatar it said write something. I assumed this would become a permanent part of my profile. But instead it posted it as a visitor message Not sure what that is, or how to access them.

Visitor messages is like having a message board on your profile, so someone can comment or message you personally but in a kinda-public format. So if you or someone else posts a visitor message on your profile, it'll show up in the 'activities' feed on your profile. Honestly, we think it's a bit weird and we're considering removing the feature so the profile page isn't so confusing.

Let us know if you (or anyone reading this) has an opinion on the feature or if you think we should keep it!

I personally think its kind of useless since you can send a user a private message if you want to. Just HMO.
