Looks like bud rot. Glad your friend removed it. I'm assuming the RH is high? Air flow will help, Neem oil is preventative and there are probably some foliar sprays you can use but I don't know what they are. Others on the forum will know.

What you are seeing is only 10% of the problem. That flower will be full of mycelium, which is the main body of the fungus that caused that part of the flower to die, a bit like roots of a tree.

It will be terrible to smoke and poses a risk of death for those people that are immuno-compromised...it will start growing in their lungs and there is no cure. Most people will be fine smoking it though.

The black trellis is from Amazon. A couple dozen companies sell them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09YD4HTT7?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3 and to reinforce the thing I used bamboo pieces and kitchen string. I made a long bamboo pole and tied it up the middle and lashed that to the main stem as it grew. The entire contraption was tight tight tight. Two of them got blown off the deck and there was virtually no plant damage. The trellis held together.

Ok, they’ve been sitting in the sun. I’ve beeen pruning yellow,leaves and taking out rot. These are 2 photos of each plant (4 total). By the tricomes I think 1, 2, and 4 are ready to harvest. What say you?

The cage turns out to be unnecessary. I just hang my buds on the trellis!

Unfortunately,we lost one of our plants. Bud rot. Oh well.

Day 153. Into the bottle.

After drying for 10 days, we bottled them in 1 gallon jars for curing. Unfortunately the buds is all dried out. Hoping to moisten them somehow. Total yield across the three plants that lived, 1.8 lbs

That is unfortunate. Spritz the underneath side of the jar lid with water. Watch the hygrometer. Don't spray so much it drips on the weed. That will raise the RH in the jar and help moisten the weed. You can also use Boveda packs.

You can raise the humidity by adding a green leaf, slice of apple ,lettuce or just about anything with some moisture in it in the jar and the dry buds will suck the life out of it.
