What is the purpose of using UV light?

As you can see UV does burn and it's used to sterilize enviornment. They use it in hospitals now a days to sterilize OR rooms like a " rumba " vacumme. Use with caution.

I get using the UV for sterilization of equiptment, but why would you use it on living plants?

Agromax puruv 54w 2' t5 in each tent. From what I read 5 min was a suggested start but more the problem I think is the distance from how the damage was centered Near the light. Uv is supposed to increase trichome production. In layman's terms its the plants sunscreen.

I have those same bulbs but 2 foot. 4 of them in a 4x4 area. I will definitely be watching them closely.

The UV used for sterilizing is UVC, kills all living things. These UV bulbs are like 80% UVB, 20% UVA. Basically these are strong tanning bulbs. Supposed to stimulate tricome production to help the plant protect itself from the harmful ray's. Must be careful with them, bad for your eyes and they will burn us too.
