Mother plant training?

I'm planning on keeping a new mother plant for at least 6 months. It's currently a few inch tall clone.
I have always just let them grow and kept topping them.
Considering doing an LST around the container and then topping those, to get clones.

How do others train their mother plants? (or not).

I don't keep a mother plant. Is not worth the price of electricity just to keep one plant for 6 month. If I want a clone, I take one or two before they go to 12/12.. But that is just my $.02

LST around the rim would work pretty well I think.

My preferred method was to semi-manifold. Top at 3rd, leave 2nd, strip 1st. Run the 4 branches out to the edge and secure, strip everything between rim and edge, and top again at edge giving me 8 tops. Once they were up, I'd pretty much cut off a branch except for the closest node to the rim.

This way I never had air flow issues, and by the time I had gone around the rim once the first branch I had taken would be ready for taking again. Once the plant is doing single nodes instead of opposing you're literally keeping the plant about the same size and the same number of branches. Very easy to maintain.

Obviously you'd adjust to suit how many clones you need how often.

To keep her from going crazy, lower intensity light, and low nutes, just enough to keep her healthy and slowly growing. About a week or 2 before taking clones cut off her Nitrogen and boost her PK a bit.

I usually start the “Mother” in the veg room and train/manifold her for 2-3 months try to root all cuttings while some autos do there thing in the flower set up. Once the autos are harvested she will be matured for the next for bloom cycle and clones ready for training/manifold.

Thanks!
Sounds like a manifold would work here:

I usually do what kingfish, does- but this is a strain without femenized seeds available and I would have to plant a bunch of regulars, in hopes of getting a good plant. No need for extra light as I will be running auto's until I use the clone mother.
I've kept a clone mother for about 1 year before- with just topping and I wasn't impressed when I flowered her out.
