The 55 watt CFL that I use has a 'standard' medium base, same as a standard incandescent bulb. Any home improvement or builder's supply store should carry them. As I understand it, the HPS and MH bulbs use the (larger) mogul base. I have seen adapters to convert a mogul to a medium (Leviton brand) and there might be one available to adapt the mogul base to a medium base, but I'm not sure on that.
