One of my Wedding Cake clones couldn't handle the increasing bud weight any longer. Got out the microscope and with about 5% amber I decided to take her. She went into her forever 3 gallon pot on June 19th, so basically a 4 month grow. Wedding Cake is a strain I would recommend to any outdoor grower, but especially for the folks with limited experience. Very little maintenance, simple nutrient feeding, and very tolerant of California weather extremes. Fat, healthy, extremely sticky buds, with a citrusy profile, and easy to train. (I kinda got lazy on her LST after her one and only tie down.) These were far and away the most trouble free plants I have going. Her two sisters aren't falling over yet so they will get another week or so I think. I'm dealing with some very hot dry conditions currently so I'm trying a old school drying technique with her. When I turn on the A/C I'm unable to keep the humidity up even with a humidifier going nonstop. So instead of hanging them I've opted to lay the branches down in a container in a dark closet and turn them 3 times a day. I have a fan going to keep air moving but no direct wind on them. I used this method back in the 80's and as long as I'm diligent in turning, it works pretty well, although it does take longer. Not a ton of product but these buds are dense and heavy. I'm going to include this strain I'm sure in next year's grow but will probably try and find some feminized seeds instead of going the clone route.

Looks good, nice little grow info as well. A lot of these boutique strains don't have the heaviest outputs but they certainly make up for it in other ways. Good luck with the dry, I wonder how many days it will take with the box method.
 
So much depends on the temp and humidity. Today the humidity jumped up but it has been a crazy rollercoaster lately and I don't want to risk it. Last year I ended up with a lot of larfy bud because of humidity in the single digits during dry. This method I'm guessing will take about 5 days dry and then curing will be pretty standard. Got my fingers crossed.
 
We get a weather condition here in late summer/Fall called the Santa Ana winds and it is hot dry winds blowing in from the Mojave Desert. It will dry the flesh off your bones given the chance. One of the reasons California is currently burning to the ground.
 
I live west of you in NM and single digit humidity is normal here. The problem we have with humidity is we use evaporative cooling which makes our indoor humidity stay between 55 and 65%.

I was tought this method of drying (also in the 80s) to slow down the drying process the only difference is we used window screens so they had a bit of airflow underneath. Hang em outside here and they're dry before morning
 
I just am tickled to see a wedding cake. It's my favorite strain for the moment LOL i have 2 fem seeds i am having to hold off doing cause i need a break LOL but for sure it's in the next indoor tent grow. If i plan it well enough i could clone off these to and may have them in outdoor next summer..........so far away.
