Math is Harder than Growing Pot

Newbsville is hard sometimes. You better be able to laugh at yourself.
I have my own special kind of stupid, lol.

I started a Growers Choice GSC fem photo seed on 8-24, the same day I started 2 FBL auto seeds. It was above ground roughly at the same time, but that's where things diverged. There was suddenly a lot to pay attention to because autos go very fast. I've never grown an auto, so I decided to let these first 2 do what they want to do so I will know what they want to do next time. They went straight into the big tent. No coddling, no fooling around. One of the seedlings presented with two 1-leaf nodes, followed by a 3,5, etc. Interesting if you are trying to figure out when to top or LST. Damn, they are fast. Love 'em. Leaf-counting can be confusing if you're doing it for the first time. The lovely and talented FBL said they do that sometimes. Coolio.

The GSC seedling was in a 4" in the baby tent - I don't need it until January. I have no idea what to expect. My first seedlings never had a store-bought light until they were 8 weeks old. First I thought the LEDs I had in there were too strong. Then I put in CFLs and stuck it on a riser to get it close to the light, but out of the way of the fan, which wanted to knock it over on each pass. Since it's going to be in there for a while, and I want it to grow a nice root system, I decided to up-pot to a gallon container.

If you are new to growing anything in general, do not transplant your seedling unless you have a well-developed root ball.
If you are using properly-draining soil and you upend your seedling without being prepared for it to completely fall apart, you will bust your tap-root. Clones are different - they don't have a taproot. But seedlings do. I was ready for it.
I brought it in the house. "Dangit. This thing is stretching. WTF do you want, little Girl Scout??"
If plants could talk.
It is a 3-week old seedling. It doesn't have a lot of roots, save the tap.
I got it into the new container - barely - had already decided to bury it up to the hubcaps. It was looking too tall with not enough leaves. Hmm...
Repotting away, tamp, tamp, sprinkle, loved on it ...

Then I mathed.
Omg, this dumb thing is missing the 3-finger leaves. Went right from weak-sauce 1-finger seedling hating life right to 5 finger.

Didn't figure it out until I was done transplanting it, lol.

Nature isn't perfect, but it sure makes the learning curve interesting :)

Math lol yeah I have a problem with it too apparently, until I looked back at the start of my journal I thought the picture I posted yesterday was three weeks old (which I wasn’t unhappy for a three week) only to find out she was actually 4 weeks old (much less happy with her at 4 weeks instead of 3).

Looks like a survivor - watch and see how long she pouts for before she grows again - but i don't do photos - how long of a veg period you plannin on? All plants gonna be growin together? What's FBL stand for?

I'll be vegging the GSC til the current run comes off, I'm figuring 8-10 weeks, plus probably another 3-4 weeks under the veg/bloom while I organize branches. I potted a Purple Kush photo on 9-13 which will also veg until called upon for the next run.
FBL stands for our fabulous far-out friend FunkyButtLovin

that is why I use the teachings of Mother Nature, my friend. I don't need to have exact science if I know what the plant is telling me by paying attention to what it's doing. Like maybe skipping a set of leaves, lol.
It is, however, excellent having scientists to ask should I need one to count for me. I got it up to 20, even if I gotta take off my socks ;)
