Making hash oil

Hey guys gonna be making some hash oil soon. You could give it a bunch of names like rso, wax, and if it hardens properly shatter. This will be my first time using my new etoh pro.

I will be using the etoh pro from extractcraft. So what i do is soak my buds in freezing 190 proof everclear and filter. Etoh pro recovers my everclear for reuse and im left with hash oil. I then let it air out for a few days. It then becomes smokeable.

I also have the source turbo by extractcraft but it processes a lot less than the etoh. I also have a small rosin press I want to try squishing bubble hash or kief. Flower rosin to much contamination from fats, waxes and lipids.

i still need a few more things like Buckner funnels and vaccume pump but I pretty much have everything I need. After I get those things I'll be at almost 4k spent on my "lab" equipment lol. Don't even wanna think about all the money invested in my grow lmao.

Will be harvesting 9 tie dye being grown in DWC. Will share my process of making oil as it happens hopefully lol. Hoping for 8 to 10 ounces per plant. All the top colas and decent size buds going into jars for myself and caregiver patients. The rest will be turned into oil.

Any comments or questions are welcomed. I don't see a lot of people sharing their process of making concentrates. I spent a lot of time researching how to make decent oil and still learning.

Also doesn't have to get that expensive making the oil. Source turbo was only 600 bucks. You can also filter with unbleached coffee filters. I've done it that way for almost a year but it's time to up my game and make better oil. I also need to process a lot of material so I needed the etoh and it cost a pretty penny.

Check out my sig. for making bubble hash.
made plenty of ethanol extracts. I’m subbed in for the journey!

Are you cold washing?
I find it’s best to strain with cheese cloth first. Then pour into coffee filters. That way you limit the soak time with the cold wash process.
Coffee filters take much longer to pass through. Adds more contamination into the final product.

will definitely check it out. I've made bubble hash a few times but always like to see what works for other people. So much work lol but soooo good.

yes I think I'm getting subzero temps with my chest freezer. I'll have to dig out my old phone for pics of my oil. Never thought of straining first with cheese cloth. Gonna be using my source turbo and buchner funnels to suck it through filters.

Yeah, I cold wash for 2-3 min. Strain it out first, then filter. Separating the plant material from the ethanol mix quickly is key for quality end product.
The source turbo is a great piece of equipment.

Harvested tie dye plants last thursday. My RH where I live is 15% or lower so my buds dried quick. Last night I ground up 3 ozs of popcorn buds. I split it up in 2 jars and shoved it in the freezer. Tomorrow night I'll be making hash oil if my job let's me lol. My everclear has been frozefor months already. My new flasks and filters will be here tomorrow and if they don't arrive I'll be pushing this off till Wednesday.

Toker1 great write up about bubble hash! I gave my first go at it in this past fall and I got decent results but not close to the quality you got. I just did a few runs of dry ice hash for the first time last week, much less labor intensive but still not the full melt quality. I'm definitely going to give bubble hash another shot now!

Nice lab!! I wouldnt mind treating myself to a source turbo, but I'd love a setup like yours. Can't wait to see your final product

Awesome NickyChicks! The quality of trim you start with has a lot to do with end results. Also, when mixing the ice water with trim, try to be gentle. We want the ice to collide with the trim and knock off the trics. Mixing too hard will cause trics and plant material to come apart. Good luck next run!

I use my etoh with cryo ethanol extraction.
If you invest in a buchner funnel/pump it'll allow you to run a much cleaner extract.
It also allows you to do some polishing if you have a dirty wash.
