Magnesium Deficiency???

EC measures the electrical conductivity, which measures how much 'stuff' is in your starting water and after you have mixed nutrients. EC is a good way to determine how much to feed at the different growth stages. Depending on the grow medium there are charts with EC ranges that will help dial in a grow.
 
EC is like the metric version of ppm without the confusion of different scales/base.

EC is the prefered method of measuring nute strength.
 
Yes, Bluey I remember hearing that you can't compare PPM measurements from different pens, because of something like that. So I've only ever used the PPM pen to compare against my own measurements. I feel like the PPM numbers (300 PPM) make more sense in my head than the EC numbers (0.6 EC). But maybe I should switch so that it's more universal.
