Need help understanding attached examples of Low Stress Training. What are the numbers referencing (does the author mean colas or pot size)? What is the difference between side and top?

I'm not sure I understand the 1-6, 2-6, etc. but the illustration is showing how to take the one main cola and bend it low and keep wrapping it around the edge of the pot and back into the middle as it grows longer and longer. This method is not showing any topping at all. Just a different configuration as apposed to topping and lst at the same time which creates sort of a star shape.

It will keep your plants from looking like this. I was late to the party, and this is how two of my five plants look because I did no training. The others managed to train themselves a little better.

I have used that LST training and it went well-the numbers reflect the week and container (pot) diameter- so 3-6 is week #3 in 6 inch container (pot): 7-10= week #7 in 10 inch pot.
Side and Top- refers to the viewing angle they are showing you.

No need to top the plant using this method (as topping slows the growth down) but you can (I have) and run one top clockwise and the other counterclockwise-
It took many weeks of vegging- but was fun to try. (turned out being a male from a Fem seed!)

Weed Pharma, Thanks for explaining what the numbers meant. Of course, they are subjective. Your plant may grow at a different rate.

I just started my LST yesterday. If you like I will take periodic pictures to show how they are coming along. The basic idea behind LST is not let the top be the tallest part of the plant. The string is to hold the stem in place as you slowly push the top down. Without the string you could uproot the plant easily.

I do have a concern though. It seems like it would be really hard to transplant to a bigger pot with all the pins in place. Or at what point can the pins be removed and the plant will hold that shape. Would it be best to go from seedling cup right into final pot for this kind of training?

I start LST after the plant is in it's permanent pot. Then I leave the stakes in 'till after I moved them to 12/12. After they got used to the light change, day or two.
I take the stakes out.
