Low humidity problem

New grower
my room is 200 sq ft.
1000 watt metal halide in enclosed unit with 4 inch suction fan with carbon filter.
i have a built in cool air induction fan so room stays at a steady 26 c thats 79 F.
my humidity is 20 % to 25 % . I have tried a wet towel in a huge bowl of water with fan.
towel doesnt improve my issue.
i have read misting humidifiers can cause mold and other issues.
can anybody recomend a paticular unit that will work in my set up and not break the bank.
thanks in advance if you can help.
 
Don't let it bother you. My current humidity is in the teens and I'm flowering and vegging. It will be fine.
 
If you are in veg, the lower humidity can cause the plants to use more water. More water going up, means more nutrients going up.

The extra nutrients could be a bit too much so keep tabs on any toxicity problems from too many nutrients. If they look good they probably are good. If you do have any issues, just add on more watering between feedings.

At 20-25% you will not have mold problems, I don't think.

Better too low than too high.
 
I think the 5 week old seedlings are uptaking too much neutriants from my version of super soil.
im getting yellow leaves on the bottom and random spots of neutriant burn.
i moved them from little flourescent grow tent to grow room with 1000 w MH set at 75% for a week.
then full 100% second week and they seem to have slowed immensely in growth.
i read low humidity can cause these problems.
my first two grows were during warm humid months and i did the exact same routine.
i never had any issues so seeing as the only change has been the humidity dropping from 60% to 22% right now
i thought this might b the cause.
Any thoughts ?

I have a 3 and a half gal. res. A day before feeding I take out 2 gal. of concentrated newt. mix from my grow res. and replace them with 2 gal of PHed 0-PPM RO plain. I leave the 2 gal. of 0 PPM RO water over night and empty and re feed the next day. My hope is this thins out the mixes concentration, and helps prevent toxicity in my res. So far (plant is 30 days old) no spots no problems.

Hey Bro284, your plants are going to slow way down in low humidity, they don't grow good at all, wet towels ain't gonna help either, humidifiers ain't gonna help either less you get a high dollar one,
 
If your plants look good, just see if you can come up with a way to raise the humidity a little. If you can't , don't fix anything that isn't causing a problem with the plants
 
What flockshot has said so far is pretty accurate, i would go with his suggestions. DWC is more resiliant to such problems because you have control of fluids and nutrients.

A plant can be sustained in low humidity, as long as fluids and nutrients are balanced to compensate for it. With greenhouse growing i have had plants thrive in sub 20% RH. But of course you have to keep a closer eye on them.
 
What up bro . I've had them low humidity troubles my self this round. Best thing I've done to date is a small tote with holes drilled in it filled with wet perlite sitting in front of tent vents. Gets me up in their 30. Once u get into flower it will be there other way. Happy gardening
 
I also live in a very dry climate where the humidity is usually in the teens. Today, the RH is about 19%. To help with this, I put a small humidifier in my tent. I am in late bloom and even with the humidifier at it's lowest setting, my RH in the tent has averaged about 45%.

I just ordered an evaporative cooler/ humidifier from amazon it should do wonders in a small room that size.

Of course you can grow plants in low humidity, I'm just saying my young 3 week old autoflowers ain't growing good ,and it's because of the 15-20percent humidity, Young plants don't thrive in low humidity.
