Hi
Has anyone ever tried this light cycle for growing ?
12 hours light , 5 1/2 hours night , 1 hour light and 5 1/2 night
Does it work well ?
Need more info thx

I believe that it is the duration of uninterrupted darkness that triggers the blooming response. I'm not certain if it the duration must be 12 hours but I am certain 5 1/2 hours will not work to fool the plant into bloom. The 12 hours simulates the onset of fall and the upcoming end of the plants life cycle thereby kicking the plant into reproductive mode.

No. You don't want to piss Mother Nature off she wont be good to you, are you trying to veg, flower? Everyone has opinion on vegging I do 20 hours on 4 hours off some people 24 7. And then flower 12/12 and it is the amount of uninterrupted darkness that triggers the plant into flowering lots of great info on this website☮️

Thanks all
I was asking for veg state
12h 🌞
5 1/2h 🌜
1h 🌞
5 1/2 🌜
And for bloom 12h - 12h

I heard about this method for veg
I wanted to know if someone is familiar with this
If it works i would save 5 hours of energy per day
13h instead of 18h of light

Thanks again 👍🏻

I'm sure I read something along these lines somewhere, but I don't recall where now. If I run across it I'll link it.

Never heard of that light schedule.

There's the 6/2 that I'll be running for the first time. furrysparkle runs it.

It works best with electronic ballasts for energy savings.

Also runs cooler.

In theory, after a certain amount of time 6-8 hours you plant starts to slow down eating (photosynthesis) and then drastically declines every hour there after.

During dark times the opposite happens. Your leaves absorb oxygen and roots Co2. So the 2 hour recharge is supposed to ensure that the plant is at optimal photosynthesis production. Thus improving growth.

Because in some situations saving 5 hrs of electric everyday adds up to quite a bit of cash. Could help control heat. If there's more upside than downside in a given situation why wouldn't you do it?

The question is what change if any does it have on yields because the cost savings is easily figured.

It might cause hermies or something else, no idea, but it isn't like 24/0 - 20/4 - 18/6 - 12/12 are natural light schedules. Not for me but I'd really like to see someone who it might benefit try it and post. I like the experiments :)

If it ain't broke why are you trying to fix it, I think everybody grows for one reason to get the best and the most that they can why grow if you don't go for the gold☮️ just my two cents people overpaid.....

Neither of those are my main reasons for growing. I know that "most" is near the bottom if not the absolute bottom of my list.

I might have spoke a little quickly, I know a lot of people depend on this for medicine. But still great medicine is better than just okay medicine. ☮️

Don't get me wrong I prefer high quality. But, for me, there comes a point where it becomes just a matter of higher or higher. When I lived in Az. there was a saying about the heat. Once it hits 100 it doesn't matter the actual temp it's just fucking hot, lol.

As far as quantity, I know how much I smoke and what I need to make that happen. Once the grow is dialed in to that amount striving for more just simply isn't a priority. I could take my current set up and easily double and probably triple what I shoot for. But it's just for me, wtf am I gonna do with more than I can use with some left over in case of disaster? I got out of the game years ago and have no desire to start back in again at this point in life.

Why do I grow?

I've built my therapies around it. I could make a monthly or so drive to Colorado and stay supplied with good weed but that would be a minimal use for me. I could get on my State's MMJ but I reject any program that costs patients $500 just to get access to buy cannabis and then no whole plant, fuck them.

My LBD really boils down to a choice of quantity or quality of life, I choose quality. So I incorporate my cognitive and memory exercises into my grow system. It the main reason I run my res in such an unorthodox manner, not because it's better, hell I wouldn't even claim it's as good as a normal maint. schedule. but it serves more purposes than just keeping the plants alive, it helps keep me as sharp as possible in this unstoppable slide into dementia.

I grow because I was unable to find anything that brought any real happiness to me since Jeanette passed. we had planned on growing for ourselves once the kids were gone so I was already studying. I've found peace and happiness in my growing, it reminds me of her, and it's the continuation of our plan.

I love the smell of growing and flowering cannabis and I like the sound of falling water. I actually realized recently that I've become so accustomed to the sound I need it to sleep now.

For me, it's so much more than just the final product, which don't get me wrong is a definite benefit. I've got a high yield strain and a high THC strain going right now, Wonder Woman and White Widow, but I'm most excited about my Candida plant at up to 20:1 cbd:thc.

I guess my point was even though those things do factor in the order of priority of reasons people grow are very individual.
