Light times

I have some photopeariod plants I'm MainLining in my tent under LED lights, my question is,, what effects would happen if i had a short dark period, like, 3-4 hours in stead of the 18/6 the plants are well rooted having started from clones and have now been in pots for 2 weeks. And have been vegging for 30 days.

Some growers claim to get faster veg. growth with longer days even up to 24 hours and others believe they get the best results with 18/6. No matter which theory you search under you can find information to support it? I am on a tight budget (cheapskate) and not running the lights for 6 hours a day saves me money. It also feels right to me to give the plant a natural rest. During flowering 12/12 is needed in fact some tropical sativas need 11/13 or 10/14 to support flowering.

Thanks. Much as i had thought. Ive run autos in the past on 24/0 and had great results. Iv also put them outside during the day and in the tent at night,, and found this to be the best results of all.

Per your picture. Do you keep those green hooks in place the entire grow. If not, how long until the plant will naturally hold that shape? Is that plastic coated bendable wire?

Thanks for your interest in my post. The "green hooks" are 14 gage "SOLID" core copper electrical wire. Breaded wire wont hold the shape. I keep them in place until the stems reach the side of the pot where they will be tied to the side of the pot and allowed to turn up and become 8 stems. Once they reach the side i remove all of the hooks. Here they are today with the next set of hooks now holding the 4 stems. You can see how much they have grown in just a few days. The hooks are 8" long.

Here they are today. 1 has 8 stems, the test only 4. Im waiting a few more days to do the rest, so they can get longer stems to stake down.

They have really grown! I am excited to use this technique on next grow. Also a little scared that I'll screw it up and kill plant. Fem seeds to valuable to mess up.

Every plant except for the two autos are third generation clones,, so if any of them don't make it (not likely) im not out anything.

Here they are today.
The autos (front) are doing very well even though they have been over fed in the past.. But im only giving water until they eat up all the extra nutes. So hopefully they will go back to growing. (Over feeding can and will cause stunting and slow growth) they are 22 days old today and should start flowering soon. Most of the MLs are at the 8 cola stage. One will be left to only 4 and one only has 7 colas. The one that was not MLed, but just topped 3 times has 8 colas but wont be spread out like the MLs and will be more bushy.
