light height

heres a question when you measure a lights height do you measure from the soil line or the top of the canopy, I would think it was to the height of the dirt for seedlings and for growing plants from the top of canopy, but i'm asking anyway cause iv'e been think about it far to long lol

I measure from the dirt when they are seedlings, growing up I measure from the top of the canopy. And I measure in inches, never really caught on to centimeters or millimeters. I do understand kilometers.

My bulb sits at the far right side of my reflector for the plants on the left should I be measuring from the glass or the bulb? I am using a socket extender when I set up new reflector for next grow because it’s been really bugging me how far to one side it sits lol

I measure from lowest part of bulb to top of plant canopy. If you've got a 4 foot plant and the light needs to be 1.5 feet away you wouldn't measure from the soil or you'd have a light in the middle of your plant.
