Light height vs dimming

I ordered my 480w qb with dimmer and was wondering about how to use both. Recommended height distance is 20-32". Does that assume that it's running at full power?

Is the 32" height too close to start seedlings? Or would you turn it down to 200w at that height?
Just trying to figure out the optimal use of both .

I hang mine at recommended height and dimmed depending on what growth stage their in. Seedlings it gets turned all the way down and gradually turn up.

So start at 32" @ the lowest setting and slowly increase it max? Then start lowering it, keeping it at max power ?

Or would you dim it after each lowering working to slowly increase power at the new height? Just don't want to burn em!

I have a 600w qb and I never go below 30" no matter what stage their in.
