Kind Soil grow Journal

Hello everybody. I decided to do a grow Journal for this Maui strain I am growing with kind soil. After talking to the owner Phil from kind soil, I decided that I should give this a try. I have other plants that I'm growing in kind soil and there doing well, but I wanted to start this one because it is still very small. It is only been planted for a couple of weeks so far. This is my second grow, as it is legal to grow in Illinois now for medical patients. I have a 2.5 by 5 foot by six and a half foot tall tent. I have six platinum LED 150 watt lights. My first grow I only had three, and I think my yield was sort of small because of that. Hoping for a bigger yield this time.

Nice man, are those autoflowers? I've used KindSoil a good bit, and it's good stuff if you follow Phil's simple instructions, good water ,don't water to run-off, you'll do good.
Super easy, to do. And it grows some fine tasting smoke too.
I also heard those were pretty good lights, if you got 50-60watts a sg. ft, you ought to be fine. Don't know much about them though.
Have fun.

Subscribed.

Would love to hear more about how much soil/ratios, watering, how you PH your water, etc etc

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. They are autoflowers. I made a mistake those LED Platinum LEDs are 150s. But there's not too much space without light inside of that small tent now.

Hey Billy Boy, Thanks for your reply. I was actually talking to Phil about how i ph my water. He was quite surprised on my method. I will have to post some pics how I naturally pH distilled water. I take one gallon Menards distilled water, and I add 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of Menards drinking water. It pH's the water to anywhere from 6.3 to 6.8 perfectly every time. I figured this out during my last grow, just messing around. I wasted about three gallons of water, but it was well worth it.

Just wanted to make a correction in my initial post. The Platinum LEDs are 150s, not to 250s. But I have six of them in a 2 and 1/2 by 5 foot tent. I also have some of them angled. Initially I was going to buy a more powerful single Platinum LED, but I figured for around the same price as a 900 w, i could raise them up and down in different positions rather than having one big light that I could never put in different positions around the plant. I will post some pics of the lights soon . Again hoping for a bigger yield this time. I will post some pictures about how i ph my water naturally with Menards distilled water mixing it with drinking water. I get a natural pH of 6.3 to 6.8 very easily every time. I'm also using Fox Farm ocean forest for my topsoil, on top of the kind soil.

gags71 I run full spectrum strip leds. You will discover, as you said, you can swing those lights high, low, sideways or down , up.....and the plants will get some great light exposure. I did it with mine and had superior yields as did a few others in the forum. Lookin’ good!

My first few grows with KindSoil I used RO, water and I had to add CalMag , so be on the lookout for spots on your leaves. Using your water you mentioned..
I started using set out tapwater and never had any more problems. Our tapwater is usually about 6.8, and quit phing altogether.
Phil told me to use tapwater, and he also said to use EarthJuice up-down, If I had to adjust, I think now he sells his own up-down
Only thing I ever added to my soil was a little Recharge if it looked like they were turning yellow a little to soon.

I second that !... actually, it was D.A.A.S.69 who gave me those instructions and I have never had issues with anything but yellowing a bit early in the first crop. Since then, every one has been spectacular with gigantic yields . My ph on our water is 8.2 so I do add Earth Juice but it goes a VERY long way

Thanks for the info D.A.A.S.69. I did mention the water combo to Phil, and he was actually quite surprised. and impressed at the water combo.. I actually have four other plants growing in kind soil that I am only using distilled water drinking water mix on. No yellowing of the leaves. I will post a picture of one that is well into flower. Just didn't do a journal on the other four, only decided to do it on this one. But I am truly always looking for advice.

Also forgot to add, I cannot use my own tap water. Too many ppm's, amongst other bad contaminants in the water. We actually have litigation going on with our little local water company. Nobody even wants to shower in it. So I would not give it to my plants, nor would I want to smoke it.

gags71 you are very welcome, but I'd still have some CalMag handy or Epson salt,,
GoodLuck
PS, Phil used to send free bags of KindSoil if you had some great flower pictures sent to him, I don't know if he still does it or not though, but I know I got my fair share of those free bags, all you have to pay is shipping, ask him about that next time you talk to him.

Just wanted to share the other 4 plants I am growing. All are Kind Soil with Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Using distilled water naturally P.H'ed with drinking water. Just wanted to take some pics with the lights off to see the proper color.

Yes D.A.A.S.69, Phil is still offering a coupon for a grow journal. one of the reasons I decided to do the journal.

What does this mean "All are Kind Soil with Fox Farm Ocean Forest."?

I get that the Kind Soil goes at the bottom but how do you judge how much of which soil? Do you mix with perlite? Do you still start your seedlings in a solo cup? Is the solo cup perlite and FFOF?

What size are your pots after transplant?

How do you deal with problems that are nutrient based?

Okay Billy boy, kind soil tells you the exact amount. You're supposed to put one pound of kind soil per gallon of pot. I have five gallon pots. So I put one 5lb bag of kind soil in, and then filled the rest with Fox Farm ocean Forest. You are not supposed to use anything else other than that, no perlite, and no nutrients. That's the whole idea behind kind soil. I start from seedlings in. Peat pellets in a humidor, then transplant into a Solo Cup, just in Fox Farm ocean Forest. Then I transplant them into the 5-gallon pots with the kind soil and fox farm ocean Forest. So far I have not had any issues with nutrients. Which means the kind soil is doing his job. Thanks for the questions, hope I answered everything.
