JH/SD/GSC - Grow 8

This grow did not go as planned yesterday. I went to the store to pick up the same bag of coco I have always used. Got home and noticed it was coco with no perlite. Same packaging and everything. By the time I had opened the bag the store was closed. The reason it took me so long to open the bag was because I was trying to calibrate my pH pen, and it would not calibrate. I tried for about 2 hours, and found my old yellow cheapy one, which let me calibrate it quite easily. So after all this pH fuss, I'm really irritated when I see that my coco doesn't have perlite. #ENDRANT. (I'm all better now, thanks for reading lol)

For my 8th grow, I decided to do a throwback to the first strain I grew when I didn't know what the fuck I was doing - Jock Horror.

My first grow was dwc, and I only had 2 plants out of 5 that made it due to root rot. I switched the survivors to coco, but one was a week or so ahead of the other and was too stunted to save. That one gave me a massive amount of 3.5g lol. The younger one yielded 2ish oz, and I really enjoyed it. I'd like to see how it will grow now that I've got my routine.

Here's everything you need to know about this grow:

4 55w autocobs (as per usual)
Megacrop nutes: CalMag, base nute, sweet candy, bud explosion
Silica Blast
Quadlining technique

Jock Horror by Nirvana
Sour Diesel by Dinafem
Girl Scout Cookies by Lineage Genetics

Excited (as always) to grow these strains!

I brought my table back in. Even though I will more than likely have to take it out again, I'm going to make use of it while I can. It's much easier than the shop vac lol.

Here's to a great grow!

Today is 7 days for the girls. They sprouted between Friday and Saturday. I messed up the Jock Horror by accidentally taking off one cotyledon leaf.

I thought it was part of the seed that still needed to be taken off. Alas, it was not. So she does seem to be a tad behind the other 2, but I think she will do good in the long run.

Other than that, they are healthy and happy looking seedlings! Can't wait to start quadlining these girls!

Have a great day everyone!

Today is day 15 for the girls. I have to admit, I've had far healthier plants in the past lol.

The girlscout cookies has what appears to be light burn if I had to guess. The light was raised to alleviate this problem.

The Jock Horror has some weird lines going on in it's leaves. If anyone has any guesses, I'm all ears lol. Temp and humidity are in the right range, and using a light dose of nutes since they are so young.

The sour diesel is the largest so far, and seems to be doing pretty good for the most part.

I know they are young and don't drink a lot at the moment, but this coco seems to stay wet quite a bit longer than the coco I normally use (the original post explains what happened). I have watered twice since they were put in their pots 2 weeks ago. Normally at this stage I was watering at least every 3 days previously. Maybe I didn't put enough perlite in.

Anyway, here's the girls, and have a great week.

Today is day 21 for the girls. They are looking better than last week, but I still have some light spots on the girl scout cookies, and the leaves on the other two have some marks as well.

I have topped all of them and taken off the first node to start the quadlining process. I staked down the sour diesel and the girl scout cookies so far. Jock horror needs a little more time before I stake her down.

So far this grow has been off to a rocky start. Hopefully things will start looking better as we move along!

Have a great day everyone!

Off to a good start, minus the few problems you have had, but looking good. I am going to try quadlining my last Jack Herer Auto. I will have 3 comparison grows. no training, lst, and Quadlined. Will follow along with your grow!

Thanks phantom! I like the sounds of your experiment. I did that, but it was with mainline v quadline. Quadline won both times lol. Look forward to seeing yours

Today is day 28 for the girls. They are starting to look much better, and I've started training on all of them for quadlining.

The Jock Horror is stubby and has a bit more stretching to do before I train her any further.

The Girlscout cookies darkened up a bit, which is good because she was pretty pale.

The sour diesel is looking very good, except for the fact that I snapped a branch while training. The branch is starting to heal nicely though.

I'm still watering far less this grow than any other grow I've had, but it's up to about every 3 days now, so there's some progress.

I'm in I did 6 quad lines in my outdoor grow I was going to put them in the green house but due to state laws I can only have 12 plants .
Do you know the difference between Jock Horra and Jack Herrer , I'm just curious cause it confused the shit out of me for awhile I thought I was calling it by the wrong name lol they are looking great

Thanks OJH! I looked it up, and jock horror is a mix of northern lights and 2 strains from the haze and skunk families (it did not specify which 2).
Jack herrer is northern lights #5 with a haze hybrid and Shiva skunk.

Sounds quite similar to me lol. I went with jock horror because it was the first plant I ever grew, and wanted to see how it would turn out now that I kind of know what I'm doing lol.

I love the quadlining method. It's really helped my yields!

Those are some good looking plants. They seem to be around 5 days older than my current grow. I'm under the impression you'll get a better harvest (Stronger lights, presumably, known female seeds), but I might just follow along and compare the plant development to my plants for fun. Thanks for the well written grow journal, it's always a pleasure to read. :)

thanks for that info I thought they might be similar ,If you look at the pics I posted today most of the outside girls will have some form of quad-lining done to them anyway to increase yields is worth doing .I'm real curious to see the difference between quad lining and fluxing I have to admit not knowing how tall the side side branches are going to get makes me real nervous lol

Today is day 35 for the girls. Hairs have been seen on the GSC for about a week now, and I have also seen hairs on the Sour Diesel. Just waiting on the Jock Horror now, but she seems to be growing slower than the other 2.

Things are looking pretty good for the most part. I'm seeing a little nutes burn on the GSC, but the new growth also seems slightly pale. Should I use more nutes or less in that scenario? Lol.

The branch I snapped on the Sour Diesel has definitely made a recovery, although I didn't snap a pic of it this week. I started training some limbs on the branch, but I won't be training the main branch because I don't want it snapping again.

Speaking of snapping, I was training a bottom limb and snapped that one clean off by mistake on that same plant. Oopsie lol.

Have a good week everyone.

Thanks OJH! I look forward to seeing your fluxing!

I didn't hear that about the girlscouts. That's hilarious! Maybe they will start selling that instead of their cookies 😂

Today is day 43 for the girls, and the stretch is on for everyone except the Jock Horror. I did find some hairs on her finally though, so it's just a matter of time for her to stretch as well.

I have been very lazy with my training, so they definitely aren't perfect. The Jock was too stout in structure to train well, so her branches are a little more vertical than they should be.

The sour diesel is looking really good, and the branch that I nearly severed has made a full recovery.

The Girlscout cookies probably has the best shape out of the 3. She trained very nicely, and no branches were snapped.

Little buds are starting to form on the GSC and the sour diesel, so next week they might actually look like buds.

Have a great week everyone
