Issue with Exhaust and Intake

I have an Exhaust system set up with the Charcoal canister and fan inside the tent. The exhaust works well, perhaps too well.

The tent is 4x4x8, and it's a 6 Inch setup. My issue is that when the fan turns on the tent sucks inward. How are people allowing good inflow without smell escaping from the tent. I'd like to do this without needing a second fan and filter.

That's negative pressure and it's a good thing. It's letting you know that it's pulling plenty of air through the tent. I also have a 6" variable speed fan in a 4x4 and even turned down all the way it still sucks the sides of the tent in. I leave one lower screened vent open and I open the lower duct vent a little to allow plenty of airflow opposite the intake side of the exhaust fan.

see it as a passive inlet
as in the fan sux not only the tent contents
but the room if not the house too

ps you can buy in a fan conttoller a knob to turn down if you must

Appreciate the replies. Will leaving an opening open, not spill stink into the basement? That's the issue I'm having

Nope. Fresh air rushing in will keep the stink elsewhere. A nice thing about exhaust fan controllers is being able to tone it down. My fan at max speed doesn't give my filter a chance! I smelled almost ripe bud in my back yard last week. This week, you can't smell it at all because I dialed the fan down a notch.

Yes you should really look into a variable speed controller for your fan. As UndergroundFarmer mentioned..some fans can overload the filter that they were sold with. Check the CFM of your fan and compare to the CFM ratings on that filter. The filter should be 200+ CFM larger than the fan. That way, you cant overload the filter at any speed. I bought a filter thats rated well above my fan cfm, fan's on low and no odor.
I also moved my fan/filter outside of my tent for a little extra space.
