Is this Silver Haze done?

I just need an outside opinion... does this Silver Haze look done? I seriously am having issues knowing... It should have been done two weeks ago if I go by when I switched to 12/12 lighting... but when I researched Silver Haze I've heard it is a 9-12 week plant... while others claim it is a standard 8-week plant... Either way... the Trichomes just started turning milking from clear, and it almost appears as if the plant is now pushing out new white hairs pistils again as some are just now starting to die and retract... WTF>.. I am confused.

To me, based solely on the brown pistils, I think it's ready. You say the trichomes look milky so I also say it's ready. You may see new growth even through the end but the majority is what really matters. Most of it looks ready so....I think it's time to cut her.

May I also say, what a nice looking plant! :)

I'm dealing with high heat and it slowed the finish on some flowers. A friend near me is having a similar issues with a similar strain. Looked like they were about ready and then exploded hairs out like crazy. We chalked it up to the heat. Is it hot where you are?
I say let them go a little longer. Better a day or two longer than a day short.

He said they were just turning milky. It's a personal preference, I prefer more time to mature. More full white trichomes, depending on the strain maybe a few amber. But I don't tire easily so couch lock isn't an issue. But to each their own.
 
Okay let me back up and explain this a bit better...

A couple of weeks ago I would have sworn by previous strains grown this was ready to harvest... but my other 1/2 disagreed with me 100%... so I waited what is a couple more days, I went off the same mindset of I would see the trichomes degrade... and yet they were 100% crystal clear and standing firm and plump upright... More white hairs appeared and some turned orange and brown and it put on a little more growth... Okay next week into it and it really is looking like its time to harvest, and then I read about how some you have to worry more on trichomes and other strains more on the hairs... and the more I keep watching the more and more confused I become... the hairs are brown and orange, but they are still pushing out new white hairs, I do not see any hairs receding or actually dying off yet, the trichomes just turned from clear to milked 2-days ago and I am sitting here blown away. Any other strain I have grown, this would be done and the trichomes golden and amber by now... not still milky bright white as they are now tonight... I mean WTF... this should be done and ready I would think... but its acting weird in my thought pattern... I've never grown a 9-12 week strain before either.

I thought this was an 8-week flowering strain... I guess until recently I didn't even know their was a 9-12 week strain. I know its "Silver Haze" which is what I thought it was and it was an 8-week flowering plant. However from reading some places "Super Silver Haze" which is what my other 1/2 thinks it was... is in fact a 9-12 week flowering time according to what some people were saying. It was a different site and a person like me was questioning why it was taking beyond 8-weeks when someone pointed out it was 9-12 weeks for this strain... All I know is that I am lost and confused... and hence why I figured to ask for some guidance here.

The hairs are to catch pollen. The trichomes speak to ripeness. If the plant isn't ripe it will continue to make pistils (hairs) to capture pollen to make seeds. The trichomes will go through color change at various points. Most prefer a steady white, some white with amber.
Go with your gut. Over time experience will guide that gut feeling. Sometimes you will be spot on. Sometimes you aren't and learn something. Lol I'm learning all the time.

Oh I'm sorry I ruled out heat as a factor and other environmental issues and concerns because everything is monitored and controlled in the hydroponic system and environment and I've never had an issue with any strains prior to this one and nothing has changed.
 
Yeah I'm learning all the time too... I certainly spend enough time reading each and everyday about something and always something about plants... The more you know the more you can do.
 
Greenthumb Some of the things you describe remind me of my last sativa grow: waiting and waiting on trichomes (which on some sativas don't really behave like what we're used to: I read that they don't necessarily turn milky and then amber, they just start to degrade), new growth coming out of nowhere, etc.
 
You should really should take the advice of booking up a little. From what i saw they may have another week and you dont want to wast all the hard work on harvesting to early. Lots of good reads out there.
 
I would start the flush now, if you are doing a flush. My grows tend to get all cloudy with a few amber, I've never gone further. Beware some strains never really go past cloudy, so I've read. Don't forget, the breeder saying 8 weeks means from when flowers start to form, not when you flip to 12/12. So, if it takes 1-2 weeks for flowers to start forming, you're right on schedule.
 
Morning GT , going by the pictures you have still got at least a week and maybe more like 2 weeks, way to much clear an white yet. The pistils will turn and go back toward the flower when they get close, the bud itself will start to look deformed in New places, like big knots start to appear on the bud, that's right about the time the trichs start to really show amber, at least from my experience anyway. But the very easiest way for me to tell when she is getting close to harvest and real close within a week is by her water intake. Good Luck with your pretty plant.
 
As Sheesh as commented start your flush now , and go a couple more weeks. Nice looking plant. I grow at least one Super Silver Haze every season.
 
The trichomes on my green crack we're almost all milky very few clear maybe 1 in 30 showing a little Amber this was 2 weeks ago fed for one more week flushing for 2 weeks my buds have almost tripled in size by being patient. Just my two cents good luck☮️
