Is this root rot?????

What kind of bucket is that? Lowes buckets let light through if you don't light proof... I spray painted mine black. To check, (empty your bucket) and drop your phone in facing up while its recording a video. Seal the bucket. Watch the video to check for leaks...
I would hit the root problems section of gwe... some dip their roots in a hydrogen peroxide solution to try and get them back. It's likely you won't see the existing roots recover, but you'll know you're on the right track if new, white, healthy roots start popping out of that ball...
I had problems towards the end of flowering with the 10 gal tote in using with my autos right now. You can see in my auto journal that it isn't spraypainted which was the issue in my last grow. I didn't bother this time bc these autos will end up in my buckets if I can get them running.
let us know what you plan on trying! I think DankwingDuck hads some issues early on... DD, what was your fix?

makoman ,sure looks like root rot to me, you can possibly tell by smelling of them, they are not suppose to smell bad.
Then again, your roots might be that color, because of something you added, like Recharge or a similar product.
Theres plenty of stuff that you can use to clean up your roots, Read Nebulas articles on root problems. And good luck.

I agree that it will have an odor . What’s you ppm and what are you useing as far as nutrients. Are you checking you ph and ppm every day . I check mine 2-3 times a day . If there is root rot your going to see big changes in your ph and ppm . It could just be something your adding . A better picture would help . My floralicious plus makes my roots brown for a day or so on my smaller plant . In general it makes all my plants roots a little brown but I notice it more on the smaller one . Is your water cloudy at all . How big is your res and your air pump .

If it is root rot , this is what I did .
I mixed 15ml of 29% h2o2 / 1 gallon RO water .
I rinsed the root under cold tap water then soaked them in the h2o2 mixture for about 30 mines . This should kill off most of the root rot .
the root will not get better and will not turn white again . I cut mine off 1/2 way up . In a day new roots started to pop out around the net pot in . Once they were a few inches long and in the water I cut the rest of the effected root off even with the bottom of the net pot .
I added hydro guard and orca into my nutrients solution to fight any bad bacteria’s that may be growing . I also added Humic acid and silica to help boost the plants defense system and nutrient intake .

That’s knowledge I wish I didn’t have to learn . But I don’t stress about it as much , now that I know how to deal with it .
Btw we have 4 root days In a row starting tonight on the biodynamic calendar. So I would expect to see some good root growth till Friday .

Cheers Guys ,many thanks for all your great advice :smile:.Well I found a stand I use for my fish chum mincer ,put it in the shower popped the plant in the hole and used the shower head to wash all the slime off very carefully using my hands .Stopped any light getting in by covering the lid with tin foil ,changed the clear plastic hose for air stone to black ,went to the hydro shop and got a product called Regen -A-Root to try .I also added a bigger air pump and a dehumidifier as the RH is around 80% at the moment (winter and wet) so will see if all that makes a difference .
