Is this normal

When I harvested yesterday I noticed the stems were hollow, kind of like bamboo. Is that normal? Don't remember hollow stems the last time.

Kingfish: don't you grow with CFL? I want to make some tweaks before next grow and have an idea how to add more CFL lights. My current side lights are U shaped florescents I cannibalized from an old Phototron but I'm thinking about replacing them with 3 light bathroom vanity lights with CFL's. That will boost my wattage and lumus. What do you think? My grow box is small and made of plywood so mounting lights is no problem and I can train plants to grow beside side lights. My overheat lights are 4-42w CFL's in a reflector.

The strips of CFLs are a great idea. I had 12 24w bulbs in a similar size box, and grow some great plants in there.

No Puravida, I have a T5 for vegging and 1000w HPS for flowering. I would stay away from the bathroom type of CFLs. They get to hot. How big is your box? Can you put a T5 in there. I would think that you would get better coverage with T5 vs. CFLs. I have never used CFL, so I might be full of it again. In which you can shitcan this whole post.

I would only use 23w CFL's for bathroom strips, a total of 9 along with the four, 42w overhead CFL's. I could fit a 6 tube, 2 foot, T-5 in current box but that would not leave room for any side lighting. Nebula keeps encouraging me to go with a 150w HPS but I would need to reconfigure everything. Spousal Unit is paranoid so I have to keep everything stealthy!

I think you can pull this off if you line the sides of your box with Mylar. That way you can eliminate the side lighting. Also it will be a lot cheaper.

Hi Puravida

Was that all the rootball? was it hydro? Stems are right what did you get off this plant?

I dont know what this was caused by, but im a firm believer in the use of Silica along with the reg nutes. It seems to create better cell structure and solid stems.

Nope, just painted white. Researched reflective coatings and it seemed that white walls were pretty close to Mylar. Looking into using Orca for walls.

No. Grew in soil and roots were wall to wall. Don't weigh final produce as it's for personal use. I only go by how many mason jars I fill. This grow doesn't appear to be as plentiful as last grow but I just started drying yesterday.

I think we can do better for your next grow and I just thought * I bet the yield isn't what you wanted.

Gordo gets fantastic results and the time you spend on these plants has to count, it's the LAW!! LOL

I'd love to get you in a hydro set-up!

Speaking of big stems. Check out the size of this stem of one of my Black Jack after I started LST.

I'm a low maintenance kind of guy. Hydro seems like a lot of work. Last grow I got 5 mason jars from one plant. While I was please with that I was hoping to do that or better this time but looks doubtful. Guess I will just need to start next grow sooner! 😆

This might not be the place but since you mentioned LST, man I'm so glad i read up on that! What a difference it makes! Hope all of you are doing this now!!

Keep us posted on your Blackjack grow. That's what I'm leaning towards for my next seed order. While I'm happy with the sativa high from my AK-48, the smell is...unusual.
