I'm ready to be amazed

So I have started my first QB grow.

New HLG 260w QB, with driver mounted on the outside of the cabinet.

Check it out!

I had one Northern Lights mother (5 months old), and my last clone off of this mother.

bUW1vHHVj2qDOTKxMlBPNY19ADte1LezLryZxQ7VPLtGJ90m9d40PH4yHqrDcPHq8wRCRdFk6PtErq2Seb1_Anc-AV3cvTpLBEilkeC34jADIEVuyyYbRUhQcHAuawTFSJS-Mpal

As you can see the mother plant is a bit tired.

She was in a 1 gal fabric pot and needed to have her roots cut and transplanted into the 3 gal fabric pot. I think she will recover nicely.

Second plant is a 4 week old clone.

I have started the LST and want to scrog (have the screen ready)

My light is currently 24" from the top of the plants, and is at full power.

How do I place this at the optimum height and wattage?

Do I keep lowering my light closer until I see light stress? Which is?

Or should I lower and reduce power (dimmer).

Current temp is 75 inside the cabinet, with fans running full speed.

Outside temp is 51.

Any suggestions for what to watch for?

Sounds OK to me so far, plants will let you know how well they like it. I got a sad old gal also, poor thing really needs flipping.

if you see they recover slowly i would dimm down the light, if you see them growing and stretching then you reduce the height of the light, but they look a bit stunned so too much light could be bad

I dim it all the way down during veg and crank it all the way up during flowering. I had my light at 16-18 inches during veg and 22-24 inches during flowering. Maybe start at 16 inches and monitor your plant.

Ok so this afternoon I downloaded lux light meter for my tablet, and here are the readings, and the conversion based on HLG website

At 24" from the top of the canopy full power on driver, 46000 lux 712 ppfd

At 24" from the top of the canopy low power on driver, 16500 lux 255 ppfd

At 17" from the top of the canopy low power on driver 28600 lux 443 ppfd

These readings were taken in the center of the cabinet, and at the level of the top most leaves.

At the edges of the cabinet the readings were less, but i want to set the height for the center.

I decided to keep the qb at 17" and low power.

I still want to get a "kill a watt" and measure the actual wattage from the outlet.

We are on our way.😁

QB grow update.

It has been just over two weeks since switching to the quantum LED.

Currently I show 712 PPFD, at 17" from the top of the canopy.

Plants have been topped and training to keep low and spread.

My old mother plant is starting to come out of it's funk.

One of it's clones is doing very good.

Here are a few more shots.

Well on our way.

4 weeks veg since switching to my QB.

Both same strain (northern lights), different colors?

They seem healthy so not to worried.

Currently keeping temps around 75-80°.

Starting to train into scrog.

Not sure yet when I'll flip, I'm guessing it will be another week or so.

Notice how one is lighter than the other?

Since this is my first grow with an LED QB, I am unsure what to look for.

These pictures seem a lot different than what I am used to with CFL.

Do these look OK?

The yellow patches on the leaves are worry some.

I bought a "kill a watt" today and checked my wattage.

The QB was drawing 120 watts, in my 2x3 cabinet that means 20 watts per sq ft.

I have read that you should shoot for 30 to 50 watts per sq ft.

I bumped it up to 180 watts, and also raised the board to 16 " from the canopy. (Only raised it 2 inches).

Do these seem ok?
My temps are around 75°f

They seem to be growing great filling my SCROG.

Seems that I didn't see this yellowing with CFL.

Hi all, I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

I wanted to give you an update on my first Quantum LED grow.

These plants are 28 days into 12/12.

My QB is 260 watt adjustable, and is at full power.
The light is 6" from the top of the plants.

At only 4 weeks flowering these budlets are filling out nicely.

If these girls continue to fatten up, this will be my best harvest yet!!

Quantum LED Harvest.

This is going to be a longer post.

There have been some who have been following my first QB grow.

So here is the harvest pictures, and for comparison I'll post a couple of pictures of my last CFL harvest.

So this is just under 12 weeks flowering time.

Starting with a quick comparison.

My QB harvest.

Quite a difference, I expected a better harvest, but this is amazing.

In both cases the same strain, i did let the QB grow an additional week of flowering.

Here are more pictures of the QB grow.

Yes those are regular 12 oz bottles.

I noticed that the QB grow started to suck the nutes out of the fan leaves for the last two weeks.

I finished with the QB on full power 260 Watts, and about 8 inches from the tallest cola.

I am amazed at how much better the QB does than the CFL.

I will be posting my final weight, I'm guessing 8oz total?

I have placed a Do-si-dos strain under my QB for vegging.

Well I think it's a fantastic first harvest with the new light. I have not got a cola that size yet indoor. Great looking colas :)

Final harvest weight

As the original post was titled "I am amazed"

I thought I was doing quite well with my CFL lights.

But man oh man am I surprised !!!

So for comparison my last CFL grow was 5.5 oz off of two Northern Lights plants.

This harvest is 10.8 oz off of two Northern Lights plants.

Twice as much, and colas the size of beer bottles.

Even made it into trophy pics on one forum.

I am switching to a different strain do-si-dos, I'll see how it grows under the QB.
